5 PM

Running (out of date) intervals 40:55 [5] 7.8 km (5:15 / km)
shoes: VJ Bold 8 (dobbs)

Intervals at Downing fields: 4x(4x300m, [1']), [3']
Pretty nasty with such short reps, but a bit of the sting taken out by a low turnout from the fastest guys. Glad to get it done, but it felt pretty horrendous

Running (out of date) warm up/down 16:47 [1] 3.1 km (5:25 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 1000 6 (heavies)

Was offered an ideal 28-32 minute cool down, but was supplied with an insufficient 16 minutes. Any future injuries will be blamed on this false promise.

Baitsbite with Pete C + a possible new recruit. Steady on the way out, faster on the way back with a conversation about how to better retain new runners... oops

8 AM

Running (out of date) 27:42 [3] 5.8 km (4:47 / km) +10m 4:44 / km
shoes: Asics GT 1000 6 (heavies)

Up at an ungodly hour to get to the uni sport centre to pick up a pair of hi-fashion hi-vis vests, and then proudly parade them back to Wolfson. Feeling absolutely shattered, mentally and physically
9 AM

Running (out of date) 51:33 [3] 10.5 km (4:55 / km) +70m 4:45 / km
shoes: Asics GT 1000 6 (heavies)

After marshaling at Wolfson followed the race through to Grantchester, then turned the opposite way for the Coton hill, couple of 'steady reps' (i.e. trying to get a decent climb:distance ratio without having to do actual hill reps). Finished up at my second marshaling point on the hill at Madingley American cemetery.

12 PM

Running (out of date) 26:13 [3] 5.4 km (4:51 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 1000 6 (heavies)

Having heroically prevented the traffic-related deaths of hundreds of Cambridge's finest athletes, took a glory jog through the streets to get home.

Running (out of date) 1:00:00 [3] 12.3 km (4:53 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 1000 6 (heavies)

Soul-crushing late night steady parker's piece laps. Logic goes that if I make myself want to cry from boredom in training it will remind me that being slow is boring in races.

Couldn't hack it at the end so did two strides to alleviate the monotony before heading back

Squash 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics GT 1000 6 (heavies)

Not the most glamourous match, with the overwhelming mood of sleep-deprivation being sneakily crafted into an excuse to undermine the legitimacy of my first win over Calum in far too long. 3-1

Thursday Mar 8, 2018 #

Running (out of date) 1:06:45 [3] 15.0 km (4:27 / km) +50m 4:23 / km
shoes: Asics GT 1000 6 (heavies)

Hill run with the orienteering fwends. Lovely day up around Cambridge, and a good baptism of mud for the finally-arrived trainers.

Burrell's field training. Managed to double mispunch and cross an uncrossable wall on a Wednesday night training. 'nuff said.
