Another foray West. Blackford, Hermitage, BVP, Craiglockhart Lower Man, Craiglockhart, Canal, Meadows. These are all nice places, especially the lower Craiglockhart which I don't think I've ever bothered to go up before. There's just a few too many roads in between them. There's definitely a better route in here somewhere just need to figure it out.

Legs feeling a bit sore after yesterday. Tomorrow could be very interesting...

WUP, bit frantic trying to find full leg cover. That would be full leg cover for a 3km race. Seriously?

Running (out of date) race 16:59 [5] 3.1 km (5:29 / km) +180m 4:15 / km

Greenmantle Dash

Dress code aside, what a fantastic race. Strong EUOC turnout ensured I wasn't going to be at the front, but worked my way up to the group 'chasing' Sasha and grinded up the climb to stay with Tam and co. Bit hesitant to start with on the descent but got my head in gear after a bit and started to make up some ground. Then it stopped being downhill and my legs started hurting quite a lot. Lost 2 places and a lot of ground on the short road sprint at the end... oops. 6th finisher, 2nd junior, loads of beer, excellent day out.

First time racing this sort of thing seriously, and loved it. Got the tactics completely wrong but that's part of the fun. Will be back for more hill racing.

Short ungarmined WD. Pooped

Note

Slightly rubbish to take three rest days after that quad strain. It won't hurt fitness that much, but definitely an element of laziness in not getting out at least once since Sunday. Still, lucky stars to be counted its only another very minor injury dealt with easily.

Note

Big lunchtime walk round the glen with Holly (hence no long run). Quad twinging quite badly at points after this morning's descent. Damn.
8 AM

Running (out of date) 43:09 [3] 7.7 km (5:36 / km) +430m 4:23 / km

Wanted to run up Ben Vorlich but the cloud was down, I would've been first up and without a waterproof so probably a bit dangerous. Went for a short run up the adjacent valley instead, turning at the first patch of snow because the path had basically disappeared. Very nice
