I don't really know why but being in Edinburgh is always a catastrophe for my training motivation. Couldn't decide whether today should be a long run or a session or both, and allowed this very unimportant decision to delay running for 9 hours from when I first got to the front door to when I set out, still without an answer, and inevitably ran neither.

Rubbish, but did at least do the three bits of route l planned on as I left the door (meadows lap, seat top, Cameron Toll). None of these were guaranteed. Bit of discomfort on the left shin but feels muscular. Wonder if I tweaked it with tib raises. Feels pretty minor but one to watch.

Very frustrated by this week's training, disrupted by work, travel, disorganisation and lack of motivation. Every run/bike/gym I've done I've ended up really enjoying (at least in retrospect). But three or four low quality days for which I will pay a price in forthcoming races. Head wobble required perhaps.

Stretching/Physio/Plyo 10:00 [0]

I wouldn't say this was good but the unbadness of this early morning was a big surprise
9 AM

S&C 1:30:00 [3]

All the weights, all the time. It's all here and it's all weights. Always. It is impossible to keep track of all the weights, but your best chance is here.

10 AM

Cycling 1:40:25 intensity: (58:48 @0) + (38:48 @1) + (2:49 @2)
ahr:128 max:154

43.75km +147

Immediately post-gym (thought I'd have half an hour extra but having to do s&c silently takes longer) with Niainmh. Out was a grind and thought I was cooked for sure on Chapel Hill, but once we turned out of the wind it was suddenly a lot more fun. Funny that. Iains power level might be too high for me soon but at least keeps these rides honest

Note

Good day for my degree/job prospects, bad day for my fitness. Out the house for 15 hours. Probably a tradeoff I should make more often but slightly embarrassing to do it the day after saying structured training was back.

Running (off-road) 1:09:08 intensity: (6:13 @0) + (11:10 @1) + (23:36 @2) + (5:41 @3) + (7:53 @4) + (14:35 @5) 16.15 km (4:17 / km) +44m 4:13 / km

8*800[90" jog 200]

Bit wet out so Churchill cancelled :(

Mostly with Paddy, Phoebe, Vosper after detaching from the mahoosive pack that were curtailing our recoveries and making the reps into 820s.

2:31,31,30,30,30,30,29,30 - Mr Metronome is so back.

Would've liked to do this at 5k pace and maybe I did in which case that's a shame, but if you assume training (non)-stimulus takes 10 days to take effect then today being a bit weaker than expected makes total sense. By no means a disastrous session and this week should mark the beginning of training being a bit more structured again.

Some chlaps in the early evening sun. Pretty dreamy stuff

Sunday May 19 #

Running (off-road) 1:17:29 intensity: (2:56 @0) + (11:18 @1) + (18:07 @2) + (44:26 @3) + (42 @4) 16.06 km (4:50 / km) +43m 4:46 / km
ahr:156 max:174 shoes: NB 860 V12 Jan24 (heavies)

Slightly extended Grantchester with Pete, Rennie, others to start, then turned back early with Cillian, Burnsy and Bjorn. Felt surprisingly good so could've done 20+ but there isn't a need the day after some slightly rogue racing I don't think. In a more general sense, though, time to get back into some slightly more consistent mileage.
6 PM

Stretching/Physio/Plyo 12:00 [0]

Full mobility set. I can't touch my toes yet but, like, way closer than at any other point in my life

S&C 1:00:00 [3]

Big full set replete with various gym PBs. I didn't try hard enough yesterday
