Running race 20:02 [5] 4.0 km (5:01 / km)
shoes: New Balance MT572

This was one continuous run but I separated out the first 4k (actually run at race pace, I guess I'm too pessimistic) so that I have the calculator for quick comparison.

I may have maintained the pace after 4k but the trail took me under canopy and the GPSr went goofy.

Running warm up/down 29:00 [3] 3.74 km (7:45 / km)

This may have been my first off-road spin in the past 35 years. I'm tempted to log as cardio because I did so much on foot beside and under the bike.

Running 19:10 [5] 3.49 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: New Balance MT572

My route was cut short due to controlled blasting. Humidex was 30.

I may have one final chance to race Corey side-by-side, at a half-marathon in October. However, I'll need to be running 8min/mile pace. The irony is overwhelming.

In the mid '90s, my brother and I motivated each other (from a distance) to return to fitness using a 400m track. The goal was to see how many laps of continuous running could be done at 8min/mile pace. We moved through one mile than two.

Eventually, I was motivated to return to road races where adrenalin made that pace easily attainable. That pace became my regular training pace for hundreds and hundreds of mile. My running career would peak at two marathons raced well under that pace.

Now with a broken body, that pace is a thing of the past. My last 10k race at that pace was in '07. It will be tough but let's see what I can do...for now, one lap at that pace is a reasonable goal.

Ziggy was a trooper. By the end I was light-headed running in the heat of 28 with legs and arms covered.
