Running warm up/down 8:00 [3] 1.0 km (8:00 / km)
shoes: Columbia Trail Meister

orienteering race (Timm Drive South) 51:23 [4] 3.0 km (17:08 / km)
shoes: Columbia Trail Meister

with handicap 49.1% 30/45

Through the first eight controls, I was pleased with straightforward yet slow course. Deep water was everywhere. From 11 my plan was to use Robertson Road. Water was soon over my waist. For more than five controls, I had a follower. For his safety and mine, I headed back north through ankle deep rather than waist deep. I did worry when my follower was unable to keep close. If I'd known this was going to be my route, I would not have done the control earlier. I left trail to head S to 6 and soon found myself surrounded by waste deep water. Watching the minutes tick away, I eventually found rock wall to trail. Without using compass I must have got twisted because I thought I was farther W. Back on E/W trail I broke S along next rock wall thinking I was heading for 3. I wasted far too much time seeking 3 when I was actually near enough to spot runner attacking 6. What a mess.

shoes: adidas Kanadia 4 TR

I intended to workout for 90 minutes but quit when I could no longer maintain pace - 12:59 12:50 12:48 12:49 12:31. I didn't have water, Humidex 27. I was frustrated with idiot who chose to do her tai chi in the track's inside lane but I shouldn't have let her win.

Running 52:16 [3] 7.0 km (7:28 / km)
shoes: New Balance MT610BG2

New shoes required too much knot tying.

Tuesday was first time I brought disposable reading glasses in map case. Without intention, glasses were disposed.

19, 20, 21, 24, 12, R3, R2, 22, 23, R1, 14, 1, 6, R4

I expect poorer results than last week but I'm comfortable with my new strategy. Take the easy navigation controls, don't worry about nearby controls or distance between. I'm just too slow on the ground and there's nothing I can do about that anymore, just keep going until I can't.

21: Diagonal from Woodroffe took us 40m beyond control, that should teach me not to follow.
12: Entered forest west of feature and went too far south but at least I wasn't running when turned back.
23: I couldn't see R1 from top of hill so carried on to 23 and explored below on way back.
6: Leaving 1 I stumbled on Phillippe's control card. All of my late penalty was time spent figuring out what to do with card which I hung in trail side tree. Even so, I probably would have stayed out longer if not concerned with contacting Phillippe at finish. It was only thanks to another's kindness that I went far enough for 6.
