Running 43:00 [3] 5.5 km (7:49 / km)

Each kilometre got slower. A jogger blew right past me but at least I was running. Goulbourn Forced Road was closed to traffic due to trees down from wind.

I have nice bruises across my forehead and the bridge of my nose from orienteering.

This was a new map but in area I know from geocaching etc. After four consecutive failures to finish an orienteering course, I really needed this one. I was dropped off on Timm Drive and caught the bus (on Eagleson) home after the event. There was a huge turnout, mostly due to junior training program. I saw few of those youngsters on my course. Due to the federal government property, a long course has to circle the perimeter of the fenced off region. This makes for challenging course setting across the north portion of the map, beside highway 417.

Unlike my typical outing, I ran bearings while others used trails. It used to be the other way around. This might be a function of my familiarity with terrain or the fact I can't see trails well on maps anymore. I think it's time to buy a real compass if I put in a full season next year. I'm pleased with my error time but I can account for too much of it by bearing being off.

Running 29:00 [3] 3.6 km (8:03 / km)
shoes: New Balance 610v4

I must get new shoes. There were many breaks for geocaches that are not factored in the timing. Looking at running on Saturday and orienteering Sunday, don't tell me I'm becoming a weekend warrior.

Note

Five years from now I need another colonoscopy. All was clear. Note to self: next time use vaseline for burns during prep. Calories, electrolytes and caffeine were nicely under control. However, there was still no chance to leave the building once prep begins.

Unlike my procedure in early 2006, I was given an intravenous sedative without being given a choice. I may have been better without as I nearly fainted with low blood pressure just from the IV insert. I'm such a baby with needles.

Monday Oct 19, 2015 #

9 AM

canicross 19:00 [3] 2.1 km (9:03 / km)
(sick) shoes: New Balance 610v4

Colonoscopy in two days so I am off analgesics meaning my knee hurts, my teeth hurt and my head hurts. Ziggy got in to something nasty on Saturday and is having sneezing like fits.
4 PM

Running 10:00 [3] 1.2 km (8:20 / km)
shoes: New Balance 610v4

coat, jeans and full pack

I better go have some solid food before I prep for the hospital.

Cross country 52:00 [3] 5.7 km (9:07 / km)

Stony Swamp with chickadee bombardment included, I wore my Detroit marathon jersey, just wishing I could still do that...this weekend.

basic 7:00 [1]

With Lela still in hospital I will miss another weekend of orienteering.

spin 51:00 intensity: (11:00 @1) + (40:00 @3) 15.0 km (3:24 / km)

That may have been the last ride of the season. I correctly wore half gloves and two layers on torso.

canicross 25:00 intensity: (15:00 @1) + (10:00 @3) 2.1 km (11:54 / km)
(sick) shoes: New Balance MT610BB3

I'm tired of being tired and sick of being sick. Spending hours visiting at the hospital this week probably won't help me much.

Monday Oct 12, 2015 #

1 PM

spin 1:04:00 [3] 21.75 km (2:57 / km)

Knee was too sore for a run and there were too many dogs at Bruce Pit.

geocaching 1:08:00 intensity: (22:00 @1) + (10:00 @2) + (36:00 @3) 4.3 km (15:49 / km)
ahr:111 max:148 shoes: New Balance 610v4

Despite being covered with hat, sleeves and pants, I brought home at least one tick, checking out my pecs. I was in the South March Highlands (seeking Munzees) because Ziggy was safely off to the spa. Before the outing, I did tear knee on stair at home but that seemed to have little effect on the workout.

geocaching 10:00 [3] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)
(sick) shoes: New Balance MT610BB3

It's official: I can no longer sustain a pace of 8 minutes/kilometre. With the time I have left before replacement-knee and the end of running at any speed, my workouts will be slow and solo, sorry. No more group runs for me. You have always made me feel welcome. It was fun while it lasted. From the doctors, I knew the end was coming. Knowing that the rest of the group is comfortable running 30% faster than me, my temptation to run beyond my abilities is too much.
