Running 34:40 [3] 4.0 km (8:40 / km)
shoes: MT610CG4

I chose a pace which is the minimum vdot tracked in attackpoint, a pace that was within reach last July for the Boilermaker, 6:35/k. Of course such a pace is no longer possible for any distance since my knee hit a new low last month. Nevertheless, I chose that pace for a test on the track this evening. I ran pace for 100m and jogged rest of lap, felt good. Then I ran 200m, jogged rest of lap. On the third lap, knee gave out in consecutive strides 150m into pace run. The curve may been the issue. Hopefully I find the courage to test again. I did three more laps including attempts at 100m pace runs and then gave up.

If I can build up sone strength, I should be able to race in July. However, there's no way that I can do 15k in two hours. There is no way that I am racing in 2017. I will have to find a surgeon in August. Road racing is over!!!

three separate runs for errands

spin 2:02:00 intensity: (13:00 @1) + (1:49:00 @3) 34.13 km (3:34 / km)

It is hard enough with the heat and wind and fatigue but now rear wheel wobbles and brake drags...probably final ride.

spin 1:46:00 [3] 33.1 km (3:12 / km)

My plan today was to test the crappier-than-usual knee on the track. Getting out of the car at the dog park, I had a nasty twist again. I voted for testing the knee on the bike instead. It went better than expected until I dismounted to cross some grass around 45 minutes in. Getting back in the clip I must have twisted just the wrong way.

Mother in town and taking her to Jays' game left little time.

geocaching 1:32:00 [3] 8.23 km (11:11 / km)

The wrenched knee works as long as I don't change from bent leg to straight leg.

For the first time, I played on the trail that leaves the South March Highlands o-map, heading to the Old Carp Road. I turned back when I saw the house.

canicross 12:00 [3] 1.2 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: MT610CG4

I tried to run at Bruce Pit but shooting pain after ten strides held me back a few times. When Ziggy asked to quit due to lack of dogs due to rain, I did.

In the afternoon at work, knee gave out from pain just getting up from one computer to go to another.

Running 37:53 [3] 4.73 km (8:01 / km)
shoes: MT610CG4

The plan was an afternoon of orienteering at the Terry Fox track but then I ended up babysitting grandson. No problem, I will take him to his first O but then he decided a nap was required in the only available time slot.

I made a last minute decision to trail run the Kizell but the mosquitoes weren't killed off after all. My even slower pace makes it impossible to out run insects. Surprisesurprise, the road run was a negative split.

Note

I had multiple episodes of excruciating pain yesterday. M thinks it could be from nasty twisting getting out of the car, the first collapse in pain. I fear it could be the result of a long workout Saturdy on Canadian Shield. It was difficult physically and emotionally to get out of bed today. I still took Ziggy to Bruce Pit. The transition from straight knee walk stride to bent knee run stride (and the reverse) is nearly impossible without a full stop and manipulation of the knee by hand. I still hope to attempt a run this evening, just to see what's up. I know the end of running is coming but apparently I'm still not ready emotionally.
6 PM

Running 30:00 [3] 3.57 km (8:24 / km)
shoes: NB MT610BR4

To get race ready, I was going to start speed work. With the new tear, my focus will be getting to start line.

Symptoms from the cold virus were coming back before the LSD, 1h42 including stops in the South March Highland. Poor navigation but it was still orienteering. Distance is true measure.

Running 43:00 [3] 5.45 km (7:53 / km)

Despite high effort and focus, I could not maintain start pace (7:06/k) and after two miles (24:30) I decided to back off, meaning much of the run was actually slower than 8min/k...o bother.
