Off trail the snow was soooooooo deep. Because it was 20 below last night and the car didn't want to start, I decided to visit creek after #5. Roaring stream was not frozen over so I doubled back to trail system.

Knee pain was not the issue after this workout but rather the cold and the bonk.

As shown by the heart rate monitor, this was a long tough workout through too deep snow. It would not have been near as long (by some 20 minutes) if not for drifting S of #3, adding 700m of error to the adventure. Taking trail to #2, I encountered too many skiiers to use trail. I drifted 100m S of #6 & will stay closer to pond next time. Without the distraction of other lost boys, #7 was no problem. In November, we were off the map.

However, getting out of #7 proved the greatest adventure. Trying to find beaver dams to cross marsh/pond/lake, I was swallowed up by snow - over my head - between the hillocks created by the cattails. Falling through 2 metres, I did not encounter water but vine-like grasses made it VERY difficult to get righted. My reward for getting righted was a 1h journey through knee deep snow, up and down big and little hills, w/ no trails, all the way home.
