I've not been pleased with my floatation, sometimes sinking more ten inches below the surface of the snow. However, I've seen the dogs and dog-walkers walking through my tracks and falling through much deeper than that.

There is a trail-side ditch immediately south of #14 which I attempted to leap. The leading edge of my trailing snowshoe caught under the ice and then the water and the torque to bring up my leg was excruciating on the knee.

Crossing the parking lot in front of the Super-dome, I watched the ice break behind me with each stride and the tail of each snowshoe fell in to water.
