walking 20:00 [1] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: ASICS Gel-Kahana

I've moved up to sixth in the score-O series but that may be as high as I get.

orienteering (Rockcliffe Park) 49:12 [3] *** 5.45 km (9:02 / km)
16c shoes: adidas Response Trail XII 0040

I re-ran the score-O from last week but only added 3.8% to my score - control 13 (2, 1, 5, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 18, 19, 20, 16, 17, 13, 21, 22).

walking 43:00 [1] 4.3 km (10:00 / km)
slept:6.5 shoes: ASICS Gel-Kahana

Nurse from London Life came for blood, urine, blood pressure etc. She had trouble drawing my blood and I nearly fainted - how predictable.

I'm heading to Calgary on short notice to assist the moving and I will miss the next score-O (and likely lose my place in the final standings). Hopefully, Team Agar will finally put in some O-training while I'm in Alberta.

score-O from D Aubrey Moodie school
3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 22, 21, 25, 24, 23, 4, 1, 2
85.8%
after handicap 9/37 (87.6%)

In the early afternoon humidex hit 37 but thundershowers before the meet brought the temperature way down, thankfully. Five controls were in the school yard where we started. After queuing up at five early controls last week, I waited to see which schoolyard control was targeted by nobody and that's where I went. My strategy was in flux. If I had hit #9 before #8, I may have gone on to #10, #12, and #14 but couldn't quite figure what to do with #8 and #13 or #11. When I came out of #10 and hit the trail to #11 dead on, my decision was made for me, run LONG and forget about 12, 13 and 14 - good job.

I stalled on rock piles at #15 and then wasted too much time seeking #17, then run, run, run but don't fall down the old wells. From #19, Rorry led a train towards #20. Hoping to finally visit that feature (intersection of ditches), I felt no guilt following. However, we drifted left and hit the trail which leads on to Bell High School and two controls - LONG run. Someday, I will visit that feature.

Then out toward the street-O, I resisted the enormous temptation to dart through the resident's car park and went N four properties to real entrance. If I had hit #23 with time to spare, I would have tried for #13 but there was no time left. I doubt that my time lost at #15 and #17 was enough to add a control in the back half.

I do like this challenging map. Unfortunately, there are no facilities not even a portapotty for changing. The two hour bus journey in wet underwear may have consequences.

walking 20:00 [1] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)
(rest day) shoes: ASICS Gel-Kahana

I heard myself snore, confirming that I am overweight.

basic 13:00 [1]

In the score-O series, I've moved up from 14th to 10th. Just like the ol' days of the Mad Trapper series, John R is right behind me. However, I have one extra age-handicap to play with. Last year we both ran well on the Cedarview West map, tomorrow's venue.
