Trail breaking is ridiculously slow but it makes for incredible cardio. This is so funny; 46cm is too much snow for snowshoeing. There was no snow kicked from the tails because the tails never came above the snow.

January '11 was my best workout month in the last four months but my poorest January on AP.

I used an ol' pair of fake snowshoes belonging to M. They'd never actually been used for a workout so the crampons were high and sharp. The shoes take some getting used to. Because of the strange configuration of the crampons, there was more slipping than I am used to. The tails kick up too much snow on to the back of my legs, even into my socks. The bindings are too loose for racing. Because of the new crampons, a high leg lift was required, making for a slow outing (only time for once through the forest). My lack of speed might also be the result of dead legs after two days standing on my feet as a protester.
