Belair run at night with Simo, Livo, Emmo and Jenno.
Unfortunately no Zaro or Callo although I may have heard a distant bark call that was Callo in the disto.

orienteering 51:36 [3]

Last day of the QB3 day in nz. It was suppose to be a middle but it was quite long and hard running in places. Made an error on 2 going too low into the green. Pushed hard from there and tried to keep it clean. Also picked good lines in the forest which made running easier. The low pine area was difficult to get through.
Another win which was nice but could have been about 2 mins faster if I didn’t make that error at 2.

run 40:00 [3]

All warm ups and downs for the day

orienteering 15:31 [3]

Sprint in the morning at some school in Palmerston North.
Very slippery and a lot of people on the courses. It was ok except for a ground reading problem where I didn’t get which court yard I was in but realised I was in the right one in the end and my control was there.
Lost 10sec there. Couldn’t get the speed up and run into a branch.
We don’t know the results as they have to take out the road crossings .
Update: ended up third

orienteering 12:57 [3]

Last leg sprint relay.

I went out about 1mins 15 or so down on Renee. Caught her around 7 and passed her onto 9. Stayed ahead of her until my brain phased going to 12 where I excited the wrong road ( map wasn’t orientated) I was still leading till 14 but got stuck in the muddy bog going to 15 and she passed me, also my route into 15 wasn’t that great too. Couldn’t catch her from there and she beat us by 20seconds.

So yes, your mind has to be focused all the way to the end. A good example of losing it at the end due to panicking

QB3 Nz.
Whirokino.

Ran alright through the green and logs and climbed the hills well. Didn’t feel fully exhausted and I think I ran at a good speed where I could still read the map. Had to stop a few times to read the detail on the map and then observed the detail on the ground well. Probably the best I have navigated in NZ pine forest before so happy with my run. Made a bearing error on 19 and lost 1.5 mins and probably a 1min on 25 where I was unsure if the contours were going up or down.
Won to Imogen and Lara. :)
