Friday Aug 16 #

orienteering 54:35 [3]

I didn’t die!

Head wasn’t with it today. I was frazzled and nervous.
Yes I did run 2-4 thinking I had done 3 already. I have never done that before.
I was confused in the darkness of 5 and a lot of the time I got to the circle and was hesitant with what I was seeing.
Positives were that I ran well with people and amazed with their lines in the forest so I’m going to use that tomorrow to help me run.
I also ran better than two years ago so that’s a positive. I am looking forward to tomorrow and starting first.

run 30:00 [3]

Note
(rest day)

Had a complete rest day today and Brodie gave me a massage which was nice. I am hoping it helps with the tiredness in my legs and the swelling from the bruise on the right.

Middle final tomorrow. Excited for the race but only feeling slightly nervous.
Plan for tomorrow is similar to Tuesday but with more visualising in it so I can get an idea of what I should see before I get into the control circle. I am also going to go hard cause really what do I have to lose?
Plan
Visualise
Look
BANG! (In capitalism for emphasise it)

orienteering 40:00 [3]

Jogged and walked around the open A6 spectator race. Only did parts of the course. Really nice but I think some things are going to be vague on Friday.

Tuesday Aug 13 #

run 30:00 [3]

Warm up

run 7:00 [3]

Cool down

orienteering 34:35 [3] 4.4 km (7:52 / km)

Middle qual. Felt very tired at the beginning and wasn’t surprised when AMH caught me at 3. She was much smoother in the terrain but not as fast as I expected. She was useful for 4 and 5 where I had her in sight but I didn’t see her after that. Greta was with me for the rest and I think I did good plans and kept my speed.. ok but it was just a slog. The bushes were very high and the ground sunk it a lot places. A lot of felled at the end and the finish shoot.
Really I think I lost about 1-2 mins in error time and maybe 1-2 mins for route choice time around the cliffs. The rest was speed. I will be intrigued to know what the final will bring.
Very happy with my placing in the end and for keeping it pretty clean.

Monday Aug 12 #

orienteering 28:00 [3]

WOC model map. Feeling nervous but ok. I went to 6 controls hard and found it ok to run but still having to stop and read. I seem to be getting distracted when seeing other runners so I am happy I am early tomorrow.
It is my plan tomorrow to stop, plan, look and bang. I will do this for out of the control circle, if I am unsure and then just out side the control circle.
I am hoping this will work and I will be safe but also fast.
