Little loops round Thyon and up the very first bit of the course and very gentle strides.

Set off very slow with the fat people at the back and came through slowly, spent a lot of time heather bashing passing people on the single track. Able to plod up the climbs pretty well but on the flat and down hill where there was anything with rocks I kept nearly going over on my ankles and felt like most of the race was downhill. Stopped at all the aid stations when I felt my legs being drained of power and always felt much better after a little breather. Enjoyed it more when there was more people cheering me on and I liked the last climb but still not able to work at any thing that isn’t a very pace without legs losing all power and lungs working over time.
It was a good day and experience and definitely worth doing just be chatting with more people and getting to know the area.

Up and down four times on the other side of the river not able to run really just plod, fell asleep when I finished had to rush packing hoping to get to Thyon today!

Raining for the first half but felt fine for the first 40’ or so then legs got heavy and breathing rate shot up and no longer comfortable especially trying to go downhill fast, right hamstring and I think left soleus still a bit sore from the downhill session. Felt so heavy and tired after one hour and started getting a headache and ears ringing.

Tried keeping it flat as possible, felt pretty flat myself not much power in the legs and getting out of breath way to quickly, had to go very slowly at times to keep it easy. The first hill sprint felt like the end of a 5k race I was completely wiped out, did another one after a few minutes which was a bit better then decided to the rest on a flatter trail and I was moving really really quickly but something was still not right. I don’t think it’s mental it feels very physical but I’m definitely very tired mentally my brain and my body isn’t working the same way it was some months ago so it’s probably linked in some way.

6 minutes jog from campsite to the bottom of the lift and waited a while for the lift to go up then then 12 more minutes jogging down from Sorebois to where I thought a good place to the session would be. Think the first one was the slowest downhill and the last one the fastest, around three minutes of fast downhill on the first one but more like 2’30’’ after the first one. Still find it brutal pounding but looks like I dropped some 2’51’’ kilometres probably the best session yet on the most runnable path. Felt right hamstring twinge/cramp a little on the last one but not to badly. Jogged a little bit the other way past Sorebois afterwards while waiting for the lift and then jogged back to the campsite. Feeling fairly good hopefully hamstring will be back 100% by tomorrow.

From the campsite up the zigzag path opposite up to just passed the Sorebois restaurant then took the lift back down to Zinal. Moving pretty well, maybe let the intensity creep up a little high in places but I find it very difficult to hold back and go really slow. 2 different school groups or scouts gave me a round of applause as I went passed them, old hikers giving me funny looks.

Doing the bridge loop with a bit of hill at either end to get the downhill in, quite fun letting go downhill and got some funny looks from old people hiking. Pretty tired afterwards. Stopped by the little beach and knelt down in the river for a bit which was nice.
