Trail run (45’ easy) 52:25 [2] 10.14 km (5:10 / km) +300m 4:30 / km

Out with Zak on West Highlands way. Fair climb to start off with then opened out onto really nice trail with cracking view! Went a tad too far but was just so nice!
Hoping to be getting a lift with back Sarah Mack later!

Trail run (2 hours 15 hilly run) 2:15:00 [2] 17.0 km (7:56 / km) +1250m 5:48 / km
shoes: Sense ride 2

From Kinlochleven following the Ring of Steel route to first summit and last summit on the race and getting some footage of the top guys and girls, loved it! Views for days and got some good quality downhill practice in running with the top guys. Loads of people stacked it and I hope they use the footage I got cuz I captured some gnarly moments. Pretty epic day, I couldn’t keep up with the leader and Marc they were in league of their own floating over mad technical terrain while everyone else stumbled down and was easy to follow. Judith Wyder seemed to be taking it easy and was closing in on Ricky so I told him to put a shift in if he didn’t want to be chicked and he buried himself but think he managed to hold her off.
Such an awesome day! Temperature in the high twenties!

11 AM

Road run (Warm up ) 18:00 [2] 3.8 km (4:44 / km) +20m 4:37 / km
shoes: S/lab XA Amphib 2

Around Kinlochleven with drills and strides.
12 PM

Trail run (VK ) 51:46 [5] 5.0 km (10:21 / km) +1000m 5:11 / km
shoes: S/lab XA Amphib 2

Didn’t quite feel like I was firing on all cylinders and couldn’t quite operate at the highest of intensities, but gave it a good go anyhow and tried my best to run the runnable but probably power walked 60% of it. For the most part I found it totally un runnable like a vertical bog just sinking into the hill but no one over took me and was constantly going past people so it felt awesome! Chip time was about a minute slower than what the casio recorded but don’t think it affected the results as a wee bit behind 4th place but such a stunning day and place and so so cool just to be hanging out with all these athletes.
1 PM

Trail run (Warm down ) 41:49 [2] 5.0 km (8:22 / km) +35m 8:05 / km
shoes: S/lab XA Amphib 2

Back down with Zak, spent a long time on top going up and down around the summit cheering various people and getting some good videos of Zak who smashed it. Such a good day for it very lucky with the weather.

3 PM

Trail run (40’ easy) 38:00 [2] 5.8 km (6:33 / km) +240m 5:26 / km
shoes: Sense ride 2

With Zak around Kinlochleven and checking out the bottom bit of the VK route which was quite tame so vast majority of climb is between 3 and 4 kilometres few bits dicy rock and bogs but first km fairly runnable. Moving nicely on strides.

Wednesday Sep 18 #

12 PM

Trail run (45’ easy) 44:55 [2] 8.93 km (5:02 / km) +165m 4:36 / km
shoes: Sense Ride

Little bit tired so went a bit slower than usual but otherwise okay.
5 PM

Grass run (45’ easy ) 45:18 [2] 9.49 km (4:46 / km) +100m 4:32 / km
shoes: Sense Ride

Laps of Kendal Green, felt like I was moving a little bit easier than this morning.

Tuesday Sep 17 #

9 AM

Trail run (4 x 5’ Hill Reps ) 1:15:12 intensity: (40:12 @2) + (15:00 @3) + (20:00 @5) 15.03 km (5:00 / km) +500m 4:17 / km
shoes: S/lab XA Amphib 2

Warm up through the woods then same reps as last few times from the bottom of Green Side up to the top of the golf course. Got further up on all of them then I have been getting recently which I think is a good sign. Gave myself 5 mins to get back to the start point and usually had about 20 seconds standing before the start of the next one. Think I was moving pretty well and the nice weather always helps. Warm down through the woods again.
6 PM

Note

Strength exercises.

Monday Sep 16 #

9 AM

Trail run (45’ easy ) 46:01 [2] 9.51 km (4:50 / km) +160m 4:28 / km
shoes: Sense Ride

Over golf course, around Cunswick up to the hilly field and back. Legs moving pretty good despite feeling a bit tired, but may have a tiny little strain in left hip flexor not sore to run at all but hurts to tense it and poke it.
4 PM

Trail run (45’ easy ) 47:04 [2] 10.0 km (4:42 / km) +160m 4:21 / km
shoes: Sense Ride

Very similar to this morning but a tad longer moving pretty well. Had a nice nap today. Left hip flexor isn’t noticeable when running, only hurts when I try to tense it on its own.
