Sunday Feb 2 #

4 PM

Trail run (1hr 45’ easy) 1:45:39 [2] 21.85 km (4:50 / km) +378m 4:27 / km
shoes: Sense Ride

Went up a different way to usual can’t believe there are still routes here I haven’t seen before. Feeling a bit flat all day and left it a little late. Didn’t feel I could push it to a more moderate pace so kept it easy and came off the hills when it got dark. Feeling a bit run down so playing it safe.

Saturday Feb 1 #

6 PM

Trail run (45’ easy ) 46:13 [2] 8.81 km (5:15 / km) +215m 4:41 / km
shoes: Speedcross 5 Red

Went on a bread making course with mum today, so now we have our own yeast culture thing in the fridge so we can make our own bread!
Quite mentally tired and legs a bit stiff. Will set off easy tomorrow.

Grass session (Wu+3x3km/3’easy+cd) 1:20:51 intensity: (50:32 @2) + (30:19 @5) 20.47 km (3:57 / km) +60m 3:54 / km
shoes: Adidas XCS Black

8’ jog through town to the football pitches changed into spikes and did a few laps. There’s been a fair amount of rain and so it was very soggy ground. Think the session went pretty good, working pretty hard and managed fairly even splits, did notice the wind pick up for the second one but doesn’t seem to have been too bad. Quite tough going and rain picked up as it went along as well. Was a bit of a battle so good to get done I think. Suunto says I managed 3’21” km pace for the efforts. Would usually be about tempo pace on a flat road but I reckon that’s decent in the slippery slushy stuff.

8 AM

Trail run (70’ moderate ) 1:09:49 [3] 17.59 km (3:58 / km) +320m 3:38 / km
shoes: Speedcross pro 2

Over Cunswick and along the Scar with a few laps of the hilly field and back. Moving fairly well, a little bit tired and it felt like it took a little while for the legs to wake up but felt like a pretty solid run.
6 PM

Trail run (30’ easy) 30:27 [2] 5.93 km (5:08 / km) +108m 4:42 / km
shoes: Speedcross 5 Red

Easy through the woods. Feeling alright.

1 PM

Trail run (70’ easy) 1:10:11 [2] 14.15 km (4:58 / km) +265m 4:32 / km
shoes: Speedcross 5 Red

Easy over Cunswick a few 1km laps of the hilly field and back. Very strong gusty wind and chilly stinging rain but the mud isn’t that bad at all. Strangely enjoyable, feeling really good, like I could have kept going for ages.
6 PM

Grass run (30’ easy) 30:59 [2] 6.03 km (5:08 / km) +100m 4:45 / km
shoes: Salomon s-lab Speed

Laps of Kendal Green moving fairly well. Bit tired but okay.

Tuesday Jan 28 #

12 PM

Road run (Warm up) 19:00 [2] 4.19 km (4:32 / km) +13m 4:28 / km
shoes: Nike zoom fly

Jog down to the river to meet Joel. On and off rain and hail which didn’t last too long but relatively good conditions and feeling really good! Does make a big difference training with someone really positive.

Road run (12 x 60”/60”) 24:16 intensity: (12:16 @3) + (12:00 @5) 7.3 km (3:19 / km) +45m 3:13 / km
shoes: Nike zoom fly

Felt like a really good session. Watch says I averaged 2’55” km pace for the efforts which I think is ace considering the puddles, hail and having to slow down on the bridges to go round people.
The 60 seconds moderate recovery probably averaged around 3’45” pace but slowed towards the end.
Felt fast and powerful like I could push on in the last 20 seconds of each effort and probably do a few more reps if needed. Recovered pretty well though I could tell my legs had worked hard during the warm down.

Road run (Warm down ) 19:51 [2] 4.16 km (4:46 / km) +58m 4:28 / km
shoes: Nike zoom fly

A few laps of the river before heading up the hill back home. Tough jogging uphill after a session but feeling alright.
7 PM

Trail run (30’ easy) 32:27 [2] 6.24 km (5:12 / km) +144m 4:40 / km
shoes: Salomon s-lab Speed

Up and down through the woods, keeping it easy. Feeling fairly good.

Monday Jan 27 #

11 AM

Trail run (40’ easy) 42:06 [2] 8.31 km (5:04 / km) +192m 4:32 / km
shoes: Salomon s-lab Speed

Up and down through the woods, finding uphill pretty tough going feeling a bit rough but able to move fairly well on flat and downhill.
7 PM

Trail run (30’ easy) 31:25 [2] 5.9 km (5:19 / km) +121m 4:50 / km
shoes: Salomon s-lab Speed

Very similar to this morning but feeling a fair bit looser.
