Went with Joel and his dog round the Coledale race route and did a little loop on some nice flat trails and lap of a field to kill a bit of time afterwards. The weather was so much better than last time. Going easier than last time on the runnable sections and the snow has almost completely gone so we were way quicker over the more scrambling sections. Getting more familiar with the route and had a great day out.

Easy jog along Morecambe prom with some drills and strides. Nice day but bit of a wind again.

Very flat course would definitely do again, bit of tight u turn on the end of the pier and a stop start round a cone u turn to come back into the wind but on a good day could definitely get moving pretty quick. Felt pretty good. I was pushing it but not to the point of no return and finished reasonably fresh. Enjoyed it despite being outside the record by 7 seconds but I think we’re in a good place fitness wise!

Down the prom and along to the next pier and back up to the van for brunch in Morrisons cafe. No complaints from legs, feeling pretty good. On a non windy day it would be the prime location for long flat sessions with the fresh sea air.

Over the golf course, around Cunswick with a nice loop over Scout Scar and back. Nice and easy nice weather again strides felt pretty good.

Down to the river with a few laps, drills and strides. Perfect weather, sunny, dry, cool breeze absolutely ideal. Not too many people about either.

Felt great! Moving nice and smooth never in the red just cruising quickly. Felt like I could have done a few more, very nice! Moderate kilometres between efforts were done at 3’45” average pace.

Clockwise over the scar nice and easy. Left hamstring a little sore after the downhill yesterday I think but nothing too bad.

Walked the dog twice today as well, big day!

Went round the Coldale Horseshoe Race route and a little bit around Braithwaite before and after. The race route has a bit more elevation than advertised! A little bit of a surprise! Was potentially a bit dangerous on the tops in the fog with mad wind a little bit of hail and lots of snow everywhere probably could have done with ice axe and crampons for a small steep section but was so fun. Felt good and knew I could get round if I was sensible. Would be good to do it again on a clear day.

The path up to Grisedale Pike is probably ideal for uphill tempos. It’s about 5K with 700meters elevation. I haven’t done a big long climb like that since being back from the alps.

Tricky training for it in Portugal would be best to give it a few more visits if possible maybe one more before I go and one afterwards. Could be potentially good to use for a session with a bit of an uphill tempo and then get used to transitioning to downhill and then back uphill again but that would be very weather dependent. I hope the conditions are nice at the end of the month!

Clockwise over Scout Scar some nice sunshine! No real soreness, just a little bit in the glutes which I think is good thing if it means they were working!
