Work 9-5:30 very nice day and fairly easy going. Quads still mashed and top left hamstring a little sore too

Climbing at Giggleswick South Scar did a few 5a and b climbs awesome day. Think it was pretty good active recovery. Quads quite sore.

Little trot from the lay-by down from Honister and some strides in the back car park. My watch froze and didn’t save this, potentially foreshadowing the future mechanical fault oh well.

Trail run (4passesLoop/Goldensegment) 2:15:11 [4] 26.23 km (5:09 / km) +1496m 4:01 / km

Set off with the intention of laying down my absolute best time, setting off fast smashing downhill best I could and racing the flat bits and holding onto any kind of pace and just tapping it out on the last climb through the bonk at the end.
Managed to do that pretty well and surprised myself with the time a fair few minutes faster than anyone has managed yet so I’m pretty buzzing with that!

Filled up the van up at the station in Keswick and uploaded the run to Strava while I was waiting and saw that it didn’t register the segment again so I felt deflated pretty quickly. Looks like the watch lost satellites at the bottom of the first descent 11 minutes in! In two minds about whether I should go back Tuesday and do it again before the end of the month I guess just have to see how legs heal up. Could be asking a bit much of myself if I did so I might just have to let it go but if I’m feeling up for it I’l smash out another round.

Solid training run regardless, I was able to really work the climbs and practice descending which went fairly well even picked up some downhill segments. Had a bit of fear of falling but it was almost like I had to listen to the anxiety and acknowledge what it was trying to tell me about the risk of falling and after that I felt like I could relax and go for it. A day in the mountains is never a day wasted.

Didn’t take on any fuel or water so was able to travel lighter. I think the lack of power in the legs on the last climb is due to hammering the long road section just before it so I think the legs are potentially getting a little more used to that now which is cool.

Walked up through the woods, easy up the steep side of the golf course a little loop round Cunswick with some strides and some short hill sprints which were moving pretty well.

Walk up Red Screes with friends + massive chip butty afterwards and watched tenet at cinema, kind of understood it but kind of didn't.

Warm up through the woods, and then 6 x 1 minute hill reps on the golf course. Got to the same place or slightly further then when I’ve done them before so that’s good. Legs feeling relatively strong, not sure how many more I could have done though. About 2’40” jogging recovery back down the other side. Dark and rainy cool down. Felt pretty down in the dumps all day had to force myself out and do something.

Went along the river then up through Natland and round the back and up to the top of the Helm where I spent a while just admiring the views then back through town on the road. Picking it up a little bit in the last 20 minutes or so to more moderate borderline tempo. Then walked up the hill back to the house beautiful day.

Trail run (30’ easy + strides ) 39:15 [2] 8.13 km (4:50 / km) +190m 4:19 / km
shoes: Terrex two GTX

Walked up to the top of the golf course and ran a loop of Cunswick and back with strides on the golf course and in front of the house.
