Dropped off uniform and food at work yesterday on the way to Coniston so that I could run in today. Felt pretty good eased into it out of Kendal then maintained a more moderate pace for the rest.

Pretty good day at work fairly relaxed 9-5. I was joined on the first bit of the run by the guys on their bikes. I held a moderate pace and intensity throughout and picked up the effort on the hills and towards the end. Feeling surprisingly good! Calfs will probably be a little bit battered tomorrow.

Warm up jog along Coniston Water and back up to the van and back down to the start with a few strides for my group of 6 setting off at 14:03.

Trail run race (Lakeland Trail 15km) 54:35 [4] 14.46 km (3:46 / km) +408m 3:18 / km

Overtook everybody and was never passed and I dropped a 3’05” km on the descent. Last bit was pretty muddy so good cross country training. Think that’s slightly shorter then previous years as the start and finish were in different places. I think Chris Holdsworth did about 55mins to win last year so I reckon it’s pretty good going. Grey, rainy and windy which only really made the grass a bit more slippery but apart from that didn’t make much difference.

Little explore a bit further down the trail I warmed up on and back again up to the van. Legs heavier towards the end, may have taken on more damage than I thought.

Easy over the golf course and Cunswick with a small loop and back again. Strides and hill sprints under the golf course and in front of the house moving really well.

Grey and rainy but strangely enjoyable. There were 9 customers all day at work so it was a very relaxed day even went Ambleside for lunch.

Grey and rainy again. Legs a bit tired, having to force the climbs gonna take it very easy next two days. Apparently dog arrives tomorrow.

Met Joel for a little fartlek along Paddy Lane which is probably the highest road in Kendal, we went North so quite undulating downhill. I did 20 mins easy before I met him and then we went round the castle and up to the road through the farmers fields so about a 38 minute warm up. We did 5 efforts ranging from 30 seconds to 4 minutes at about tempo effort or a tad faster on the shorter ones. Felt very comfortable and good chatting to Joel.
Beautiful day could see all the mountains and inversions looking out to the lakes and then over the sea at Arnside as well.

Clockwise over the Scar and Cunswick. Quite tough but kept it reasonably easy and strides were moving well.

Lap of the block and on the road to Cunswick and then back over the golf course. Not feeling great but better having done it. Quads still sore.
