10 AM

Trail run (Fell Run) 2:33:11 [2] 26.96 km (5:41 / km) +924m 4:51 / km
shoes: S/lab Cross

Met Max, Matt Elkington and Matt Clark in Staveley went up Birk Rigg to the back of Shipmans Knott and then down into Kentmere and up Garbon Pass and turned right over Sallows and along and back down to the road and then up to Reston Scar before finishing in Staveley. Two quite boggy long runs back to back so unsurprisingly legs quite tired and heavy but happy enough to shuffle along in lower gears through the bogs. Fun day out.

Trail run (Wansfell+RedScrees) 1:40:44 [2] 14.82 km (6:48 / km) +791m 5:22 / km
shoes: S/lab Cross

Checking out Max’s new place in Ambleside bit of a throwback to student living. Wet and windy showers that came and went. Boggy going along Wansfell then followed Kirkstone pass up. Some waist deep snow going up red screes quite a chilly wind. It was a little bit irresponsible but incredibly fun. Both of us stacking it multiple times. Excellent little adventure and a quality catch up. Sounds like it could be the first of many.

Trail run (60’ easy) 1:00:32 [2] 13.14 km (4:36 / km) +307m 4:07 / km
shoes: Speedcross 5 Red

Loop over golf course, Cunswick and Scout Scar moving pretty well. Soreness in glutes and left soleus but not that bad at all.

Road run (Wu+10x1’fast/2’mod+Cd) 1:10:23 intensity: (40:23 @2) + (20:00 @3) + (10:00 @5) 18.01 km (3:54 / km) +175m 3:44 / km
shoes: Sonic 3 Accelerate

23’ jog through town with some drills and strides. I was going to run round the river loop but there is some works going on so I went along to Kent park avenue near Scroggs and did laps of the housing estate which is about 800m of undulating road. 10 x 1’ fast (2’ roll-on/moderate). Very fast running the efforts on the downhill sections and felt strong on the uphill bits and averaged 2’53” min/km pace for the 1 min efforts and around 3’35” min/km pace for the 2 mins roll-on/moderate sections. Tired warming down through but happy to run fast again.

Happy with that as a first wee session in a while and first proper road run in about 4 weeks. We shall see if the foot survives. Good to condition to the legs a bit on some undulating road loops.

Turbo (65’ turbo ) 1:05:00 [2]

Foot feeling a tiny bit worse so turbo and podcast. Might try a little run later.
5 PM

Trail run (Wu + 6 x 30” hills + Cd) 50:56 intensity: (47:56 @2) + (3:00 @5) 10.28 km (4:57 / km) +317m 4:18 / km
shoes: Salomon s-lab Speed

Had a nap and decided that some hill sprints were due. Warm up jog under the woods then 6 x 30 second hill sprints. I felt quite explosive and fast so I think the sprinting ability is still reasonably good. I’m not used to the normal pain of faster running intervals and so if the foot holds up I think I will ease into some more painful faster sessions. Lungs starting to blow up towards the end with legs shutting down so I don’t think that doing anymore would have been beneficial. Bit of a reality check in terms of where the fitness is at but I enjoy the getting fit part training a lot.

Monday Mar 8 #

5 PM

Trail run (50’ easy) 50:44 [2] 10.61 km (4:47 / km) +229m 4:19 / km
shoes: Sense 6 SG #2

Golf course, Cunswick, hilly fields and back. A clouded, light red sunset that looked like a long smoking forest fire along the entire horizon.
Moving okay but feeling quite mentally tired I could probably do with more earlier nights and turning my brain off more often.
