Down Underbarrow road through Crook for a slightly longer, hillier route to get to the van parked outside Staveley.

From the car park in Ambleside round the flatter trails round Rydal and Grasmere on the road coming back along the coffin route before popping up Fairfield horseshoe. Had a full pack with water and all the required kit for Ennerdale to try and get used to it. It does make uphills tougher but I reckon it’s great training. Felt slow and uncoordinated but it looks like it was a very reasonable run. Had 3 gels to get the stomach used to it when running tired. Technical downhill pretty poor today think my hips might be too tight again.

Anti-clockwise over the Scar. Hamstrings are really quite sore and I can’t think why that might be? Very tired head.

Note

Nets shift 9-5 felt surprisingly okay in the morning but started falling asleep about 3:30. Solid nap 6-7 and then went Arnside for curry and chips.

Monday May 31 #

10 AM

Cycling (Staveley to work) 20:15 [2] +80m

Went the direct route on main road cuz running late and traffic was mad. Quite sketchy at times, totally not safe.
7 PM

Cycling (Work- Staveley ) 19:04 [3] +142m

Work 11-7:30. Managed it fairly well and got everyone off at their correct finish times which was good. Had booked an outside table at the Duke of Cumberland for 8 and signed out at 7:30 so cycled home at a fairly moderate intensity pushing the hills. Well sweaty. Got home, showered and straight out. Had an interesting evening at friends apartment got home about 1am so will need some valuable catch up sleep.
