10 AM

Nordic Walking 1:57:13 [2] 6.69 mi (17:31 / mi) +122m 16:34 / mi
slept:9.0 shoes: Saucony Triumph

Decided to do 6 to 7 miles Nordic Walking in the fresh air and sunshine (get my daily dose of Vitamin D!).

Roads and lanes were very icy and slippery - I nearly went over on two occasions.

But still managed to put nearly 7 miles in my legs. No niggles or tiredness.
7 PM

Strength & Conditioning 1:00:00 [2]

Strength & conditioning session at the gym. Hip and glute work, running-specific exercises then weights and core mobility.

Easy paced around footpaths, lanes and trails where I live.

Moderate Run 56:31 [3] 5.52 mi (10:14 / mi) +19m 10:08 / mi
slept:9.0 shoes: Inov-8 Race Ultra 290

60 minutes Moderate Run along the canal towpath at Stone. Surface was a mixture of grass, mud and hard trail. I decided to gradually increase my speed to around my 10K pace. Think I was nearer to my 5K pace at one point!

Was definitely pushing it as was breathing hard but controlled.

Started off with a couple of minutes walking then a couple of minutes light jogging to warm up with followed by the session. It was around 1 hour in total.

Good run!
7 PM

Strength & Conditioning 1:00:00 [2]

slept:7.0

Day out at West Kirby so did 3 miles Nordic Walking along the promenade and causeway.

Very windy, cold and several wintry showers!

Invigorating though.. :)

No niggles or owt else.
6 PM

Regeneration 1:07:14 [1] 5.15 mi (13:03 / mi) +69m 12:32 / mi
slept:7.0 shoes: Saucony Triumph

Went for an easy paced Regeneration Run. It started snowing a mile and a half from home which made for an interesting session! Lovely to run through but only a light covering.

Monday Jan 15 #

3 PM

Nordic Walking 1:08:01 [2] 4.51 mi (15:04 / mi) +57m 14:30 / mi
slept:9.0 shoes: Saucony Triumph

Brisk paced Nordic Walking along a flat to mildly undulating route at home.

Good 4.5 miles in the legs.

6 PM

60 minutes Easy 1:24:12 [1] 6.01 mi (14:00 / mi) +32m 13:46 / mi
slept:9.0 shoes: Saucony Triumph

An easy 6 miles with members of my club Newcastle AC.

This was at a very steady pace with several stops to muster back.

I used this as a 'recovery' session after yesterday's long run.

Sunday Jan 14 #

9 AM

2 .5 Hours Specific Endurance Run 1:53:45 [2] 6.55 mi (17:22 / mi) +191m 15:55 / mi
slept:7.0 shoes: Inov-8 X-Talons 212

Note: stopped and started Garmin on several occasions although forgot to do so one time so the distance shown is incorrect.

Checked with a running friend of mine who confirmed we did 9 miles in total.

Actual running time was around 2 to 2 hours 30.

A group of us did a recce run of the second section of the Newcastle Way Trail Marathon route so all off-road and varied. Quite a few hills too although nothing too steep.

We had several stops to regroup and we mustered back for runners at the back.

A steady paced and hugely enjoyable run.
3 PM

Hiking 50:11 [1] 3.1 mi (16:12 / mi) +67m 15:11 / mi
slept:7.0 shoes: Saucony Triumph

3 miles hiking style walking along country lanes, footpaths and hard trails.

Did this to shake out my legs after this morning's run.
