Tuesday Oct 31

Orienteering race (Street O) 43:03 [3] * 9.1 km (4:44 / km) +160m 4:21 / km
shoes: Ascent Creations
North side Street O. Started off alright but after about 3.5km of fast pace running i died. Split up from kieran after that and apparently got ahead of him but i was too slow through the middle section and he caught me again. Finished off well though but didn't help that i had an extra 600m to go than kieran cause of my route choice. Still sick or sumthin, had a chunk of phlegm in my throat all the way round and a slight head cold which didn't help. Gotta do it all again tomorrow night. YAY

Got called into work when i was still in bed. knocked out an 8 hr shift in indoor timber. YAY penalty rates. got a cold now though so gonna skip training tomorrow and might have to skip both street o's this weekl :(

Park O at Ipswich UQ. Started off alright then blew on a control which was in the wrong spot/wrong feature but due to past experience with these races i should have just gone to the control i could see. Pretty much lost what i was doin the next two controls then didn't have much motivation to finish strongly as it was above 35 degrees. Gotta learn to ignore mistakes and run the same the rest of the course. Sorry bout not winning jukka.

Had done nothing all day and wanted to do training of some sort so decided to do my hills circuit. Chest was tight again and legs were stuffed but managed to run the lot. Didn't feel to bad today but still got a couple of cold symptons so who knows whats wrong with me. Still yet to work out how much climb in the run but i'm guessing its easily over 100 metres

Street O at eight mile plains. Was running alright suprisingly but ended up needing an extra control at the end so got done by kieran and rachels brother, plus lorenzo and ian which sucked but cant to much about that. 7.5km run at clives training. he said hes just gonna work on our running for the next couple of weeks before we get back into navigation work. Was absolutely stuffed before the start of it and put myself through a bit of pain. Was thinking of doing some popcorn lifts to prepare myself for the video viewing with the keely boys but decided against it.

Spent 2mins at friggin uni to hand in an assignment. so that equals over 2 and a half hours travelling so i was pissed off. Decided to go for a ride which wasn't that exciting.

Wednesday Oct 18

Street O at Holland Park. Did long again but stuffed up slightly at the start by going to a control i wanted to go to later in the run. Had to make up route from there which i did alright but i was dead from the hills. Kieran was less than a minute infront of me but julia ended up smashing us both. Had to do some stuff for uni up at the park so took the mountain bike and rode round for a bit. had to put something in here cause i;ve done nothing since wednesday

Easy run on the cross country loop. Legs were a bit stiff but was able to stride out comfortably the whole way. Afterwards did some stretching and then did 5X hill sprints. They were only about 50-70m with 17.5m climb

First Street O of the season. Felt really good and ran strongly the whole way. Stuffed up a bit so probably lost about 1.30min max. The format of the race is a 20 control scatter and you have to get a certain number of controls depending which length you select. 18 controls for long.http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=488059

Orienteering race (Australian Relays) 46:11 [5] *** 6.2 km (7:27 / km) +285m 6:03 / km
spiked:17/20c shoes: Adidas adiPrene
2nd leg runner in relay. Stuffed first control up cause i was being lazy. Still managed to catch up to 1st place but failed to break away from the pack cause i kept stuffing up round the control circles.

Saturday Oct 7

Orienteering race (Australian Long Distance) 1:22:19 [5] *** 10.9 km (7:33 / km) +450m 6:16 / km
spiked:11/18c shoes: Adidas adiPrene
Running alright to start with then got caught by tom. stuck with him for a while then got caught by ryan and the pace got a bit too quick and i hit the wall up a hill. Decided to go hard out on the long leg to catch back up to simon which i did. It was really hard to read the map because of how detailed it was cause it was a granite 1:15000 map. Finished in 5th which is my best place at an Aus champs.

Was doing alright in this till number 11 where i misread the map and lost about 30+secs. Then stuffed up the route choice to 14 cause i thought a road was out of bounds and lost a good part of a minute on it. Lance reckons i was on a sub 16min time which would have been good.

Tuesday Oct 3

Orienteering (NOL) 56:00 [5] *** 8.1 km (6:55 / km) +290m 5:52 / km
spiked:9/17c shoes: Adidas adiPrene
Was going alright until number 5 were it started pouring with rain. Had to lose the glasses and couldn't distinguish between all the rock features and stuff. Was running extremely well throught the terrain.

Sunday Oct 1

Orienteering race (WA Champs Day 2) 1:32:43 [5] *** 9 km (10:18 / km) +515m 8:01 / km

Had an alright run. Was running really well felt strong the whole way and up the hills. Stuffed up number 5 pretty badly cause i walked right past it. Still placed alright. around 8th. Ended up 5th overall.
