Park event in Westgate Park. Took me a while to get into the race. Had a hard time concentrating and reeding the map from the start, probably because it’s such a long time since I’ve done any orienteering at all. Bruce almost caught up with me very early and I decided not to let him outrun me that easily. Stayed ahead for most of the course, but then I hit the wall and struggled just to finish at the end. Oh well, at least I tried!

All in all I’m not too happy with the week. Skipped a couple of sessions due to plain laziness and that’s just not good enough.

I thought that the monthly social ride with the Belgian beer café was on today but after forcing myself otta bed and riding down there at 7.30AM in 3 degrees I realised that it was next week. I’m such an idiot…

Was too cold to ride any further by myself anyway. I planned to go for a run later in the day but somehow it didn’t happen.

Started out on a bike ride, but the bloody thing broke after one minute of riding… Had to take it down to the greedy bastards at the bike-shop, they wanted eighty bucks to fix the piece of crap.

Anyway, I had to go for a run instead while the wankers where working on my bike – thought I might as well do a hard run since I was already pretty pissed off. Felt strong today, if it wasn’t for the fact that I had to go back to work, I would have gone for a longer run.

Standard loop from home in the lunchbreak. That pain I felt on the right side of my hip yesterday was definitely present today as well. Still able to run though (if I have to)… My guess is that this is simply my body’s reaction to the sudden increase in activity; a couple of days on my bike and I’m sure it will be fine.

MFR run from South Yarra. Wanted a bit longer workout than 45min, so I ran both ways. Planned to do it continuously, but I got too hungry to skip a great dinner… Ended up feasting a bit too much, so it was a bit of a struggle to start to run again.

Longrun from home all the way around the Yarra Bend parklands. It was actually the first time I made it all the way around this loop. About time! Haven’t had one single longrun since I moved.

All in all a decent week of training. Will try to increase for 2 more weeks and the ease up a bit before the NOL races. Think that’s the best I can do given the current situation.

Rode to the Basin and up the hill to Mt. Dandenong. A good 70km ride. Forgot my water-bottle – big mistake! Hit the wall big time in the hill towards Sassafras, got really dizzy and had to make several stops. As soon as I got to the top I vent into the first shop I could find: Drank 750ml of some overpriced, disgusting Scottish fizzy soft drink in under a minute. After spending a fortune on luxuries home-made confectionery and eating about half a kilo of it, I could continue the ride…
