2min hard, 1min easy. Did the first km in 4:15 so set off a bit too fast. Struggled to breathe for about 2/3 of the time and felt quite light-headed at the end.

Compass bearings exercise. Found a massive patch of brambles to #1 so went off my bearing and took a while to find it. Was stood next to 2 but as it was a brown post covered by plants I didn't see it straight away. 3 was fine and I got to the circle for 4 but couldn't see the post straight away (was easily within 4 metres of it).

Compass bearings. Found them all fine ... Looking at my GPS I can sometimes do pretty straight bearings and other times I weave around a lot.

Line course. Was too far left for #1 but relocated quickly. 2-5 were fine and I'm pretty sure I was in the right place for #6 but the kite was much further left. Found 7 and 8 fine but took a bad route through the brambles and got stuck.

Kept stopping briefly for blackberries so had to run to catch parents up. Ended up racing each other to the top of the hill in the last stretch.

Very short sprint on a line which weaved through lots of trees. Easy to get confused due to scale of 1:2500

Club Training 2:16 [5] * 0.52 km (4:22 / km)

Another short sprint following a line ... Ran quite a bit past a tree I needed to turn around as I didn't look at the map enough. Raced Dad to the end.

Looking at quick route choices and then at the difference in distance between them. 15 of the routes I took were the shortest and I found the control site fine (no kites) but on one leg I took a slightly longer route and the other two were the controls I didn't get quite right - didn't see an uncrossable fence for one and got the wrong tree for the other. Didn't stop watch between moving to the next start kite (had to wait for others doing the training to catch up before we all set off again).
