Great day for a xc! Winter sunshine, not too cold, and little wind, excited! Legs felt much better than yesterday.

Scottish Uni XC Champs

Wasn't sure what to expect from first xc of the season. Weird start around a rugby pitch, then up the sharp bank onto the first lap, probably around 20-30th. Took the first lap for placings to settle more and get into a rhythm, but was feeling good going into the second lap around 15th probably, with a few people ahead and around me to pull/push me on. Started getting a stitch in the second lap, but managed it fairly well with the breathing. Thought I'd be able to push onto the back of the lead pack at the end of the second lap and into the last but think I was just cautious of the stitch getting worse and actually making me slow down. Euan passed me here and I just tried sticking to his tails as we passed a few runners throughout the last lap. Latched onto Alex along the final trail section as the pace cranked up, but just did not have any more speed gears as we entered the finishing field, so just cruised in at some sort of pace with no one close behind me. Not too far off some people I've not usually been close too which was good. Legs felt strong, just lacking the speed as I expected given where I am with training at the moment, so that's fine.

Really nice course, not the expected flat football pitches joined together! Good first xc!
