Hiking with Carolina in the Tatry / Carpathian mountains. From the Kempinski hotel up to lake Papradské pl. Unfortunately it started raining half way up and got very cold, and neither of us had raingear so we struggled on for a while almost to the lake, but then gave up and turned around. It stopped raining partway down. Carolina was in good spirits in spite of wearing thin soled tennis shoes (on a very rocky path), having multiple blisters from 2 weeks of fencing, and generally tired. Good sport! And great company.

Long Canadian champs. Very enjoyable, great course by Greg Balter, technically difficult, and superb map. Cooler today (75-80) which made a big difference. Had a good race with only a few mistakes. Rough terrain which made running quite slow hence the slow times overall.

Came in third in M45, but of course no medal since not a Canadian! Lost about 4-5 minutes overall.

Interesting route choice to 3, I hesitated at first but decided to go around to the north and attack from the path. Was afraid of too much green on the other route. Greg (course setter) agreed it was the right choice, but AP reports I lost a 1 minute.

Made an inexplicable mistake en route to 4, followed the path to the W without noticing at first. Must have missed one of the intersecting paths I was expecting, but how did I miss the 90 degree turn? Very odd. I only discovered the error because I did a routine direction check, not suspecting anything was wrong , and discovered I was going 180 degrees wrong! Took a little while to figure out while I stared dumbfounded at the compass (va f-n, går jag på sydan?!) Cost about 2 mins.

Close to 7, saw cliffs in front of me and thought I was past the control, didn't see the small cliffs on the map at first. 1.5 mins.

To 9 followed the contours but slipped a little low at the very end, 1 mins lost.
