Running Treadmill (6x400 interval) 30:00 [3] 3.45 mi (8:41 / mi)
shoes: Wave Precision 8
I have started trying to get in shape for a 5K PR. Well Steve, I think I will go for it at the Brian Kraft run again this year. I am relatively sure you are planning to run the Brian Kraft.

6x400 at 7:03 min/mile
recovery 10:00 min/mile

After about 3 intervals, it was getting tough.

Wednesday Mar 5

Running Trail (Jensen Lake) 32:05 [3] 3.15 mi (10:11 / mi)
shoes: Nike Pegasus Trail
The new snow managed to hide the ice. The trail reached a new level of slippery.

The good thing about trail running in the winter is that the same trail is different every time you run it.
Note
I think it is going to be a light week for training.

Note
Queenstown

I understand why so many people train in New Zealand. The scenery is beautiful. You look outside your hotel to the backdrop of a lake with Mountains all around. The mornings were in the 60s and the highs 75-85 F.

I saw parts of where they filmed Lord of the Rings. We actually white water rafted through the twin towers in the film.

Being outdoors oriented, I loved the hiking. The first day we hiked to the top Queenstown Mountain (S45 00' 23", E 168 37' 55"). This was about 2000 ft climb. After enjoying the scenery, we ran down the hill.

The next day Mountain biked up to Moke lake (S44 59' 56", E168 34'13") from Queenstown. The ride up was on the road. The trip back was on mostly single track trails with a lot of downhill. We walked the bikes down a couple of times. The bike rented for about US22 for half a day. After the bike, we went to wharf on the lake an enjoyed a few (okay several) beers. The views on the road and the trail were breath taking.

Sunday evening we took the gondola half way up the Queenstown Mountain and had dinner. The restaurant had a panoramic view of Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountains. It was a great place to have the opening dinner.

The next several days were training and course work. The training locations were all Kodak Moments. And all the trainers were top notch. World class Mountain bike down hillers, World champion orienteer, great water guides and of course, David Kelly.

Queenstown is definitely a tourist town. They have speed boat tours, white water rafting, organized 1- and 5 day hikes, mountain biking, lots of restaurants, lots of outdoor stores and other shopping. With that said it is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts.

The only place that might compare is Hawaii (I have not been there yet). If you get off the plane in Queenstown, you will be giggling with joy if you like the outdoors. There is so much to do either organized or on your own.

Running Trail (Jensen) 32:05 [3] 3.15 mi (10:11 / mi)
shoes: Nike Pegasus Trail
I had a wee bit of fatigue in the legs from the travel and the race. Parts of the trail were ice skating rinks. The first part of the run starts down hill and is in the sun. So you can imagine it was more about slip and slide down the hill than running. It was good to get the legs moving.
