I had some energy this morning after waking without an alarm at 6.15. Not going to do anything strenuous at Troll Cup this weekend, then I hope I'll be well for our big road trip.
Oh my word. The T was an utter disaster today. I gave up and took a lyft line which also took forever. But decided to go to the gym anyway and though I managed the strength stuff, it's still tiring me out more than it should. Pooface.
Drove up to Portland on Friday night and had another delicious meal at Central Provisions. Then a day getting back to Boston with Rob's whole family, and a day with just Rob and his parents on Sunday. A walk in the Fells which was sunny at last, and a lot of repotting houseplants and putting some herbs in containers that hopefully won't all die right away this year. Busy weekend but I still felt more tired than I should have at the end. Ho hum. I am getting weighty.
Strength session Block 2, session 2, week 1. This is a bit more fun than block 1, which is really about learning to lift weights if you've never done it before.
Everything around my hips is tight, so I've been doing the split squats with light weight and really focussing on trying to get those right angles - a stretch really, rather than a lift. It's actually quite hard.
Back to Block 2, week 1. Kept the weights very light as I was feeling a little wobbly down there.

I'm sitting at my desk waiting for calls of panic from Grants and Contracts as we get our grant application budget removed...so I thought it was time to update my training diary! It's Marathon Day in Boston and the weather is utterly foul. I have been sick for almost two weeks now, but after spending a lot of Sunday horizontal, am feeling much better. I think I did get Zan's nasty bug after all, it just came in two distinct phases.
This was a shuffle with a very heavy bag in the cold and wind. My lungs are still a little tight, but generally better than they felt last week. Yet to have a major coughing fit today, which would be the first day that has happened in a while!
Awesome day of sightseeing in San Francisco, no running but lots of walking. Got a delicious brunch, saw Zan share a museum space with Sol LeWitt at Moma, had a brief collapse, hiked on Mount Sutro, went for dinner with a Lord, went for second dinner with Zan and Jonas, then got to sleep late. It was the most fun day I've had in ages.
Probably the best conference/workshop I've been on. Inspiring and fun and I learned a shit ton of stuff and met some lovely people. Yey!

Running from Zan's place in San Francisco. The hill is so big and steep that my watch thought I was orienteering :)
Even in the pouring rain San Francisco feels like a magical place to live. It's a shame that no one with an average job can afford to live there anymore.
Ear was aching at the end of the day yesterday and today I felt like utter shit. Tried to skype in to workshop, but that didn't really work, so went in. But then felt terrible and left by lunchtime. I missed the right afternoon because it turns out that MsStats and the version of R it automatically downloading weren't playing with each other, and the bug was big enough that they cancelled most of the afternoon and went for a walk instead.
Went out to Point Reyes with Zan and Jonas. Saw a coyote on the bus on the way over, then saw a whole handful of grey whales swim past the lighthouse, and was glad I'd brought my prescription sunglasses and could actually spot them. Glorious way to spend a couple of hours. Headed over to the elephant seals after that, and they were a bit far away but still fab. Zan and Jonas dropped me off in Novato afterwards for a week of workshop.
