Friday May 2

Cycling 13:36 [2]
ahr:113 max:141
Slept dreadfully last night and luckily was going to rest anyway, so just the cycles to work and back.
Cycling 33:57 [2]
ahr:117 max:150
Cycle home via Mr Ghafoor's. Tiiiiirrrreeddd.

Thursday May 1

Cycling 15:28 [2]
ahr:116 max:146
To work - I am sick of Shandwick place messing up Lothian Road and having to stop at every single traffic lights whereas I used to get all the way down.
Warm up & strides 7:47 [2] 1.0 mi (7:46 / mi)
ahr:147 max:159 shoes: Saucony Cohesion
Warm up mile - mostly downhill hence speed, legs feeling nice.
Tempo run 21:44 [4] 3.0 mi (7:14 / mi)
ahr:178 max:189 shoes: Saucony Cohesion
Tempo run - aiming for 7.26/mile, not wanting to tire myself out too much before Sunday. Did a bit better this time, with mile times of 7.11 7.01 (sped up when it started absolutely pissing it down, rain and hail, just wearing ancient o top and tiny shorts...ouch), 7.30 (big staircase 2/3rds of way through). Felt pretty strong and enjoyed it.
Recovery 8:56 [3] 1.0 mi (8:55 / mi)
ahr:158 shoes: Saucony Cohesion
Recovery mile.
Cycling 19:18 [2]
ahr:130 max:148
Cycle home - sunny again now! Pah!

Wednesday Apr 30

Cycling 18:27 [2]
ahr:124 max:155
Cycle into work. Soggy.
Cycling 19:24 [2]
ahr:131 max:165
To the gym - awful awful traffic, but at least it was sunny by then.
Circuits 1:14:24 [3]
ahr:123 max:178 shoes: Saucony Cohesion
Back to runner's circuits. Played the fish game to warm up, then did some sets of power skips (6 sets I think). A bit of bar work, then some light weight core stuff and abs stuff. Finished off with some rather silly races. Good fun as usual, always an easy session to get back into a poor week with!
Recovery 28:00 [2] 3.0 mi (9:20 / mi)
ahr:148 max:154 shoes: Integrators
Recovery run on the treadmill to try and get a better idea of pace - turns out 9.26/ mile isn't too different to my normal recovery trudge.

Tuesday Apr 29

Note
(rest day)
My bike was sabotaged overnight in Rob's stairwell, so couldn't even cycle to work today! Still utterly exhausted (more just tired then leg fatigue) so took another rest. Saw an ace film at the cinema after a totally rubbish psychology talk from a not very clever man pretending to be clever by using big words that meant ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Pah. The ace film was "I'm a Cyborg, But That's Okay." Sounds horrificly twee and indie, but was actually a very funny and touching film about people in a South Korean sanatorium. Awesome.

Monday Apr 28

Note
(rest day)
Totally knackered, couldn't face anything but the cycle to work and back.
Cycling 39:06 [2]
ahr:115 max:152
Cycle to work and back. Tiiiiired.

Sunday Apr 27

Note
slept:3.0 (rest day)
Had a dreadful night's sleep thanks to close proximity to the excitable boys from TuMe, and was knackered all day, so took a "rest" (still had to lug my huge bag a considerable distance all day!). Great to see Rob at the airport at the end of a long day :)

Saturday Apr 26

Event: Tiomila 2008

Warm up & strides 20:00 [2]
Jogging about pre Tio run.
Orienteering 51:57 [5]**** 6.2 km (8:23 / km)
ahr:181 max:196 shoes: Integrators
As you can see from the HR, I ran fast again! Unfortunately, I left my brain at the start. Passed loads of people on the way to number one, totally nailed it, then completely stopped concentrating, drifted towards two and lost oooh...about 6 minutes? Rubbish. Pulled it back together until about number 7 I think (my map is somewhere in Sweden along with my phone charger, oops) where I lost another two minutes. The final part of the course after the bridge was ace, orienteered way better and passed a lot of people on the run in, so it was less embarrassing than it could have been position wise. I still let the guys down big time though.
Note
Stomach was up to it's old tricks with blood and cramp again afterwards, and was in quite a lot of pain and unable to eat until about 10pm. Ouch.
