Eurgh! Made it to Gay City today but I probably shouldn't have bothered. Exceedingly sluggish in the humidity and didn't really enjoy the woods, which were a little thicker than I'm used to but still lovely as ever. I'm happy that I moved fast enough that AP thought this was orienteering and not Cross Fit, at least!

Then I went here:

Note

Got up, fed hungry cat, tried to make breakfast, failed, went back to bed, missed the sprints.

Not too bothered as I obviously needed the rest!

Note

Gardening post!

The leaf miners are still decimating my beet leaves, so that's a bit depressing. Most things however, are going great guns...

However, my tomatoes have got something growing on them now. Does this look like rust to you guys, rather than blight?

And if this all goes well this year, then next year I can expand to cover the whole garden if I like! The people across the fence cut down their silver maple yesterday, so now I have full sun for everything other than the early morning:

Points to whoever can identify the wading bird from that photo! It had a blueish tinge to it's beak, if that helps!

70% Max slog. It was hot! I was not. Felt better when I ran faster to bail out and jump on the blue shuttle at the end.

Saw a new bird today! Smaller than an American Robin, bright yellow orange chest and black and white flashes on wings. Really pretty!

Cross Fit 1:10:31 intensity: (26:19 @0) + (38:42 @1) + (2:47 @2) + (2:43 @3) 0.4 km (2:56:17 / km) +9m 2:38:28 / km

After a slow start post mega day yesterday, training had to wait till the evening. (Mega yesterday worked btw, but didn't really show a clear path forward. Mumble grumble). Cross Fit was some squats which I kept light, DB rows, weighted walking lunges and ring rows. Thought it would be really hard as still had DOMS from Monday, but it's amazing how they go away when you try t generate force with the same muscles. Really fun crew, and plenty of silly dancing to JT.

Running 1:06:10 intensity: (38 @1) + (1:49 @2) + (40:48 @3) + (22:55 @4) 12.27 km (5:23 / km) +177m 5:02 / km

Slightly overplanned an extra loop on the run home. Took me through the lovely Quinnipiac Campus (definitely sprintable people), up the back way onto Ridge Road, and through Mansion Ville. There was a moment half an hour in where I was worried I had gone mega wrong, because things weren't getting more suburby, but a mailbox said Ridge Road just as I was trying to remember how to get the map screen up on the Garmin. Very hilly up that top end. Fantastic evening, but will probably regret the length tomorrow.

Note

Not as many DOMS as I expected today, but a rest day nonetheless. I have set up 4 different timecourses in my neurons, and now have to blot them all. I'm using all the cassettes and power packs in the lab, but I'm still going to be going till past 9! Yippee!! Ahem. If these all work (which they should), it will be a day of mega productivity, so it's not like a month ago when I was doing the same but banging my head against a brick wall.

Note

Went into work, treated my cells, and they all died! Bummer, but now I can enjoy some of the Memorial Day sunshine.

Note

JanetT, Charlie anyone else? Someone posted a photo on CT A to Z asking what this flower may be. They've posted a photo in the comments at the bottom. Any ideas?

Running 45:08 intensity: (1:01 @1) + (3:43 @2) + (34:56 @3) + (5:28 @4) 8.13 km (5:33 / km) +88m 5:16 / km

Morning run to Cross Fit. Legs tired after yesterday, but not too shabby.

Cross Fit 1:06:00 intensity: (16:39 @1) + (3:05 @2) + (28:23 @3) + (17:53 @4) 2.12 mi (31:08 / mi) +20m 30:15 / mi
ahr:157 max:189 shoes: Pink cohesions

Probably not the most sensible way to get back into Cross Fit. Memorial Day Murph! 1 mile run, 100 pull ups (I did ring rows), 200 press ups and 300 squats. Most people did 20 sets of 5, 10, 15 and this worked well. The boys started fast on the run and it felt quite good (Not running fast, but fast for what was about to come). The second mile felt like the end of a marathon, legs all weirdly wobbly. The second half passed more quickly as I passed lots of the others on the way out, and there was a copious amount of high fiving.

Probably shouldn't have done that after such a long break, but meh... Oh, my time! 43.05.
