I don't think I will ever forget this evening. We made it to the Sanders rally, and queued for an hour or so to get in. Bernie did a sweep along the whole length of the queue, and people were acting like he was a member of One Direction. He makes people very happy, and seemed genuinely happy to be out there.
Then we were sitting down on the green, waiting a long time for the rally to start, when a lady came over to over us four magical green wristbands - would be like to get on the stage behind Bernie? Well yes. After watching this terrible campaign unfold, and being unable to vote or even donate to the candidate of our choice (despite being a federal tax payer for six years now), here was something we could do - stand behind a candidate we truly believed in, and yell our hearts out. And so that's what we did.
I know he's probably (well, almost definitely) not going to win the nomination. But to be behind such integrity, such goodwill, and such belief in the power of humanity for good, was a real privilege.
In short, I guess I'm feeling the Bern tonight.
Edit: watching yourself on TV is kind of weird!
