We did it! The whole family went orienteering! I ran a green by myself and Rob and Euan went round the orange.

It was fantastic. I was orienteering generally badly but not epically badly, I didn't have any O shoes, and there was a moment when I was running slightly downhill across a grassy green piece of forest and the sun came out, and I just stood there and soaked it in for a minute. It was really something.

Euan and Rob had a lovely time, on the course but also at "the cafe" afterwards (The Burger Van), and it was just really great.

Note

We're going to try to go orienteering tomorrow - just realised the clocks change so we're going to be up at 5...

Cold is at the point where endless coughing isn't shifting the last mucus, so maybe a run will. To Alexandra Road through Osney Lock, another place I have never been. It's really pretty down there, looks extraordinarily British, and I very much enjoyed the run. A bit wet for house buying in that whole area though I think. Alexandra Road was a lovely little terraced street off Botley Rd, pretty little houses and quiet. Hit the magic 43 minutes and then walked home past the Alternative Tuck Shop, which is unbelievably still going strong with almost the exact same menu almost 20 years after I was last there. The chicken satay baguette is still glorious.

I had some really good meetings yesterday which made me think I can carve a niche for myself here even on the very high chance that this fellowship application goes nowhere.

Almost a week now of avoiding the bath and bathmat and almost all my spots have turned from active red and angry to bruised and healing. By jove, I think I've figured it out. Have thrown out the bathmat and replaced with this non-slip stickers, because it's a really slippy bath for Euan to use. Here's hoping that does the trick and it's not something nasty in the boiler/pipes.

Note

Feel worse today. Ugh.

Wednesday Oct 27 #

8 AM

Running 46:01 intensity: (26 @0) + (3:00 @1) + (33:14 @2) + (9:21 @3) 5.4 km (8:31 / km) +54m 8:07 / km

HR jogged to nursery with the stroller then back again. My HR is definitely not normal but it felt okay. Keep things low intensity for a few more days I think.

Hoping to go orienteering on Sunday - we will see. Pre-entry only is wasting us a lot of money in fees at the moment.

Note

Full of snot again. Walking to nursery and back every day but not able to run.

It's not even winter yet! How long till April??!?
