Note

Do I know anyone in the Oxford area who is trained to take fingerprints? I need to send fingerprints to the FBI for a criminal records check before I can begin work (FFS I am fuming) and because of COVID the only place "nearby" that can do that is the Met Police in Lambeth?!?!? And it costs 80 quid?!?!

AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH THIS IS RIDICULOUS

Edit: 2nd December is the first appointment

F$%^$^#%#%#%KKKK!!!

Edit number 2: I can pay 150 quid to get it done by a private company next week. Still in London. Ugh.

Just an easy jog along Ambleside Drive - very nice houses close to the hospital and then back by the river. Treated myself to a coffee and a croissant on the way home to try to make myself less mad about this employment check stuff.

Strength 58:24 intensity: (42:29 @0) + (15:12 @1) + (43 @2)

EPIC Day 4. This has been a real struggle before and the repeated exercises were very hard - today they felt strong and the time went quickly. I think my weights are lower but still, I'm getting stronger.

Good training week! Now for a "restful" weekend.

That's my longest run since I joined Strava in November 2017. Pretty cool!

Dropped Euan off and decided to try to do tempo intervals even though my legs felt pretty tired. Tried out the new route to avoid Hollow Way and it was lovely, but lots more climb and boardwalks! So no good for fast running on a dew soaked morning. Started the reps after that was done and they felt okay - not super fast but HR at the right level and strong most of the way. Hit up Ambassador Way which was just the road into the Tesco Superstore, so not one of the more picturesque Oxford streets, then headed back towards Florence Park for a loop to get the distance up.

Very tired legs by the end - still can't believe I once raced 26 miles at 7.35 mins per mile. Not sure I ever want to get there again but I would like to race a 90 minute orienteering course. I don't think that's a bad goal.

Strength 36:50 intensity: (35:32 @0) + (1:18 @1)
ahr:95 max:126

Bodyweight core session for EPIC Day 3. I was pretty tired but think this was still worthwhile.

Running into Nursery. Bum sore from yesterday!

Running 54:10 intensity: (27 @0) + (1:02 @1) + (2:19 @2) + (36:36 @3) + (13:46 @4) 9.49 km (5:42 / km) +33m 5:37 / km

To Allin Close in Blackbird Leys. Getting fed up of doing Hollow Way at rush hour, it's very congested and the air feels bad. Need to find an alternate route! Allin Close was alright, some solar panels and nice little green section. Totally died on the very last 90x30, which I guess means it was a good session!

Strength 39:41 intensity: (27:30 @0) + (10:58 @1) + (1:13 @2)
ahr:112 max:139

EPIC Day 2. Good job it was arms because my legs are toast.

Recovery jog to Nursery and then back again. Down the little trails in the connecting woods on the way back. a real pleasure.

Orienteering! The whole family came along and Rob and Euan did the Orange while I ran the short blue. Missed my O shoes in the very uneven open heath sections, which are somehow much harder on "trail" shoes - I think it's the high heel base compared to the thin flat O shoes. Was completely confused for almost 3 minutes at the start, drifted on the compass before locking in to where I actually was, and then a couple of small mistakes later on. Back was sore on the uphills - I carried Euan a lot more than usual last week while doing no exercise, and it showed.

Happy to break 10 minute per km, enjoyed every second. Hoping to move onwards and up from here.

Afterwards Euan got to play with Jonathan and Charlotte which was an absolute delight! Playing with big kids who know how to play is good for both toddler and Mum and Dad :). Really great to see people at last.
