The car park at the bottom of Box Hill I was planning on running from was no longer open to the public, and I realised I had my National Trust card with me, so I drove up to the top. Good job really, because nothing about running felt physically good today. Luckily it felt mentally excellent, flinty paths and lovely old trees, and big views of a place I've never really spent much time. After the run continued to Brighton for a conference, another place I've never ever been. So far it is hillier than the Brighton in my imagination.

Thought I'd try out an "adaptive Garmin training plan" to kick me back into action. Today was just 2 minutes warm up, run hard for five minutes, jog two minutes as a test session. The hard felt better than I thought it might, but I couldn't have gone much further, and it was slower than my old marathon pace :)
