Orienteering 1:24:13 [3] 10.5 km (8:01 / km)

Aus Long Champs. Not enough training and terrain running recently to be competitive in this. Started fairly well and caught Kathryn at 4 then promptly ran past 5 and Hanny caught us both. Then despite a solid effort it was clear that I couldn't keep up with the two of them so settled into my own race. Saw them again at 10 after which they quickly ran away again. Lost some time around 13 & 14 through lack of concentration. Grace ran past after this and Anna and I were together through the long leg and much of the race after this. Anna kindly pointed out a snake for me by yelling rather loudly. I wasn't looking forward to the cold weather but it turned out to be a beautiful day.

Orienteering 16:07 [3] 2.5 km (6:27 / km)

Aus Sprint Champs. Good thing I don't have lucky undies - I turned up in Canberra without my bag after Jetstar managed to lose it somewhere. Managed to get stuff off a few people and had a quick dash to Rebel in the morning to buy some new shoes. Anyway, didn't quite feel that I ever really got into the swing of things during the race and didn't feel particularly fast either. Good course setting that kept you constantly on your toes.

Running 1:17:01 [3] 14.0 km (5:30 / km)

Lake Barrine lap x 3. Nice little track. I was worried that I would run out of light for the third lap but turns out I planned it perfectly!
Helped out at the Spiny Cray Ultra this morning. Definitely a race I want to try next year. Have to see if I can build up the distance for the long race.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Sprint orienteering intervals. Grabbed a couple of the local park-o maps and did some intervals. At a high school, the tafe and the botanic gardens (could see some of the control locations from my window!). Good maps and good training.

Multisport 5:22:00 [3] 58.0 km (5:33 / km)

Ona Mission Multisport Adventure. I had been looking forward to this race ever since I moved up here. It started at South Mission Beach, with a paddle over to Dunk Island, then running on the trails on the island, then a paddle back, then onto the bike and up the beach and onto some trails through the rainforest, then ending with a beach run. Absolutely brilliant day for it and I had a lot of fun. (Though the beach run at the end was rather pointless and less fun). After being warned of cassowaries, crocs, snakes, and many other dangerous creatures, I was happy to get away with disturbing just one snake. The surf club did a great job hosting the race and made it a really friendly event.

Running 1:43:50 [3] 17.0 km (6:06 / km)

Speewah Legend Footrace. Starting from Speewah campground, on the rainforest trails in the Barron Gorge National Park. Really nice run and a good time of year for it as the trails were quite dry. Settled into 2nd place not long after the start then didn't see anyone the whole way other than on the out-and-back section to Glacier Rock.
