Orienteering race 46:28 [5] *** 6.43 km (7:14 / km) +255m 6:02 / km
ahr:164 max:171 rhr:41 slept:8.0 weight:71.5kg shoes: Inov8 Oroc

What a race.
I met with the Osh family and the lads decided we mass start. Excited about as I know they are fast. Surprisingly I was leading into c1.
Zac was breathing down my neck to c2 and c3. Josh was not too far off either. Josh went a little straighter to c4 and I took advantage of a little trail to c4.
I new this would be fast and furious so I tried to conserve energy. took a slide longer route contouring before dropping into control circle. Saw Josh climbing and struggling in brambles. My legs were not as fast as I was hoping so Josh got there just before me.
There was only one route to c5 and I had spotted it from the trail. Clean and fast to c6 with Josh in the lead. I took a different route to c7 and could run faster then Josh into the control circle. Thought the tree was a little closer to the track. Josh came from above and could spot the control better. lost a second or two here. Trying to close the gap again to c8 and got control c9 before Josh, gave him heads up that he was off. Up onto the trail for some clean fast running and route planning, Josh came through the woods and closed the gap to lead into c10. Took a compass bearing to c11. Very proud of myself as I am not feeling distracted by other runners and not following Josh but make my own way. No issues to c11, closing in on Josh again, could see him hesitating. Took that to race ahead to the control. No issue with c12. I was trying to create a gap so I took up the pace to race downhill to c13. The map was off here and I tried to reach that control from below. Saw Josh contouring and catching up again. Could see him reaching the control which we all agreed on was not in the right spot and should not have been chosen as a control. On the way to c13 I passed c14 so remembered that and was closing the gap again to Josh. No issue to c14 and saw Josh heading into the general direction to c15. This was the first of two tough climbs so tried to be efficient to it. Not as fast as Josh but by now I figured I can catch him on the downhill. Made a fast time downhill closing the gap to Josh, fast entry and exit to C16 leading into c17. Josh got caught in brambles to c18 and I took a slide longer route with the second steep climb to c18. Josh punshed that first. from here it was all running. I was hoping to close up again and maybe finish first but Josh was going very fast downhill to c22.
What a buzz that was.

Tempo and Steady state training
This training began to increase my anaerobic tolerance and develop the speed I can maintain without building up lactic acid. I also want to improve my aerobic fitness, and the endurance of the working muscles by enhancing blood circulation to them. Carbohydrates should be the main energy source that my body uses at this training intensity.
Deloading workout.
