first 5km road race ever tonight will be fun hoping to get sucked along in the train for a PB.

new PB so chuffed with that! loaded field loads of runners great for getting pulled along. was struggling in the last mile but held pace till the finish 2 slow kms at 3 and 4 but they both had 6 and 8m of climb respectively but this was made up by a faster first and last km that had 14m of decent the 2nd km was only flat km but still believe on a flatter course or a track the 17:30 goal can be achieved but this a good step in the right direction considering i dont really focus on this type of short fast race its just a fun goal ive set myself for the year.

down the canal across some fields and through some woods (getting lost) with tom, nice and easy under foot tho which is what i wanted.

Taper time 12 days till the ultra and feeling good about the chances of a podium finish still can't quite get my head around the fact I'll still need to run a further 30km than my long run yesterday but I'm sure it'll be easier on day, lessons learned from last time mean I've got a much clearer plan about what times I want to be hitting at each checkpoint and remembering to be relaxed at conservative the whole way because any amount of struggle will soon escalate with in the 8 hours of the race, just hope the weather is good now!
