Ran 5K with Bob & Bihan.
I was not super optimistic about this race, I've been feeling not great about my general racing ability - mainly the ability to not to give up. I was psyched out at my last race a few weeks ago (ran an 8:35 average for 5K) & I haven't run three sub 8:30 miles in a row in like forever & I missed the last two Sunday long runs and I was sick for a couple of days earlier in the week. I have no idea what Paul is doing with the coaching, he insists that we are going for a PR and I told him I had more time ever since I finished with nursing school so I thought for sure we were going to run more, but I've never run so low milage or short workouts since we started this whole thing. Not that I ever ran much more than 25 miles a week, but now I'm averaging less than 20 miles / week. I wasn't confident about performing well. All this to say that I surprised myself running a 25:13, splits 8:21 / 8:17 / 8:02 / 6:57. Nice, flat course & ever so slightly short - so a time that will be hard to beat in the future. Bob, my father-in-law, at 77.5 yo finished in 29:28! I want to be him when I grow up. And Bihan who never runs and did run a single 5K race with Bob before up at Bard where she started off the line too quickly and then had to limp home, I suggested to her to start off way slow and then pick it up as she went along and to do a combination walk/run and I think she had a nice time.
