Monday Dec 31

Cycling (Bill Stewart short route) 31:44 [3] 8.54 km (3:43 / km)
Went for a shortish ride with Alex. It was rather warm and my legs weren't up for much. They are generally tired and the side of my right calf is sore.

Sunday Dec 30

Orienteering race (Sprint Prelim) 31:44 [5] *** 2.76 km (11:30 / km) +112m 9:33 / km
spiked:12/15c shoes: New Balance 477
My run was ok. Zoe started 2mins behind me and Jess L 2mins after that. I only saw Zoe on the way to no. 7. She caught me at 8 and we kept on passing each other the rest of the way. Zoe finished a bit infront of me. Jess caught me at no.11 but she went a different way to 12 and I didn't see her again, she finished behind me. I knew that the veld area would be tricky so I went really slowly but I still didn't do too well on no. 7
Orienteering race (Sprint Final) 21:58 [5] *** 2.24 km (9:48 / km) +78m 8:21 / km
spiked:15/15c shoes: New Balance 477
Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens
Jess L and Zoe started 2 or so mins infront of me and Jess H a min behind me. I had brilliant run. I didn't catch anyone but I didn't make any mistakes and was running well. I didn't see anyone else out there. My legs felt slightly tired towards the end.
The Swiss guys training in SA were impressive.
I was third lady overall but none of the open women were at the event

Thursday Dec 27

Paddling 50:00 [1]

Wednesday Dec 26

Paddling 52:00 [1]
On a paddle ski next to alex to make sure he didn't drown or get chopped in half by a motor boat, who was swimming in bufflespoort dam. I really enjoyed it.

Monday Dec 24

Running (Sasol Wychwood) 20:03 [3] 3.2 km (6:16 / km) +40m 5:54 / km
weight:56.6kg shoes: New Balance 477
Run with Alex. It was really hot to start with but the sun went behind some clouds later on. I had a niggle in my left heel for the first km so I was a bit worried but it went away. I felt good for the rest of the way, even past Bishop Bavin. I pushed for the last 400m because I knew I could get a PB.
I think I've earned my Christmas Eve Dinner

Sunday Dec 23

Cycling (around Bill Stewart) 43:54 [3] 11.89 km (3:42 / km)
Av 16 Mx 51
Alex suggested riding on a path that cut a corner of Bill Stewart. He was on his road bike so couldn't come. His advice was keep left. Well. The path was obviously not the one he had in mind because I ended up getting off my bike and carrying it down a cliff (not quite). It did join the one I was supposed to be on so it turned out ok. My quads were really hurting towards the end of the ride.
I put cages on my pedals yesterday which makes life easier.

Saturday Dec 22

Cycling (Past Gym, Bennies) 44:11 [3] 13.8 km (3:12 / km)
slept:11.0
Av 18.7 Mx 48.4
Rode one of Alex's running routes with him. Went pretty fast down Sovereign st which was nerve racking because it is quite bumpy.

Friday Dec 21

Running (Park- Rhetts) 23:59 [3] 3.6 km (6:40 / km) +60m 6:09 / km
shoes: New Balance 477
It's much hotter today. The hill between st Georges and Bishop Bavin seemed to go on and on and on. My calves felt tired and sore towards the end.

Thursday Dec 20

Cycling 34:07 [3] 9.92 km (3:26 / km)
There was a chilly breeze to start with. I explored Wychwood, went through possles park, round the golf course and up royal oak.

Wednesday Dec 19

Cycling (Bill Stewart) 37:06 [3] 10.96 km (3:23 / km)
Av1 7.7 Mx 44. I'm not feeling full of energy but I had a reasonable ride. Another overcast day. It's supposed to be summer...

Tuesday Dec 18

Running (Park- Rhetts) 25:02 [3] 3.6 km (6:57 / km) +60m 6:25 / km
shoes: New Balance 477
Felt ok. There was quite a strong breeze which made it harder. The people working home from work were very chirpy today. I got lots of encouragement especially up the mean hill
C • A whole week of training! 3

Monday Dec 17

Running (Sasol wichwood) 20:50 [3] 3.26 km (6:23 / km) +40m 6:01 / km
shoes: New Balance 477
The roads were really quiet. I got into a good rhythm and my legs felt good. I had good technique going in the last km but it needs work in the rest of the run. I think it's one of my best times on this route even though I wasn't exactly killing myself :)

Sunday Dec 16

Cycling 28:20 [2] 6.4 km (4:26 / km)
Av 14. Mx 44.1. Just reached 300km on my clock but I can't remember when I got it. Another relaxed ride doing loops around my parents through Wychwood and to fetch the paper. I then rode down to Highland road and up Royal Oak.

Saturday Dec 15

Cycling 27:35 [2] 6.8 km (4:03 / km)
Av speed 14.8. My dad came along so I had a nice, relaxed ride. We rode through Wichwood, past St Georges, through Possles park, round the golf course and up Royal Oak. For about the first time in my life I got up royal Oak without stopping or wanting to throw up at the top

Friday Dec 14

Running 17:47 [2] 2.5 km (7:07 / km)
shoes: New Balance 477
Did a loopy run around my parents who were walking. Then walked up Royal Oak. My legs are a bit tired.

Thursday Dec 13

Cycling 23:27 [2] 7.1 km (3:18 / km)
Spotted a public pool in the mapbook which is closer than others so went to check it out. It started drizzling after about 2mins. The pool looks like it's property of a school. They also have a few fields so it would be cool if we could use them.

Wednesday Dec 12

Running (Bishop Bavin and back) 15:07 [3] 2.2 km (6:52 / km)
shoes: New Balance 477

Tuesday Dec 11

Running (Park- Rhetts) 24:30 [3] 3.6 km (6:48 / km) +60m 6:17 / km
shoes: New Balance 477
Once again I forgot to start my watch so the time is an estimate. It was really windy this afternoon. I started too fast and pushed up the hill to get past loads of walking people on their way home from work so I basically crawled the last km. My left foot is feeling a bit tender

Monday Dec 10

Running (Sasol wichwood) 21:09 [3] 3.26 km (6:29 / km) +40m 6:07 / km
shoes: New Balance 477

Sunday Dec 9

Running 17:00 [3] 2.5 km (6:48 / km)
shoes: New Balance 477
In total I did about 4.5km running and walking. I went with my mom and dad to fetch the paper. I doubled back quite a bit.

Saturday Dec 8

Running (Park - Rhett's house) 25:53 [3] 3.6 km (7:11 / km) +60m 6:38 / km
shoes: New Balance 477
Nice morning for a run. My legs felt slightly tired but otherwise I felt good.

Friday Dec 7

Running (Sasol wichwood) 23:58 [2] 3.26 km (7:21 / km) +40m 6:56 / km
shoes: New Balance 477

Wednesday Dec 5

Running (Sasol wichwood) 23:00 [4] 3.26 km (7:03 / km) +40m 6:39 / km
slept:10.0 weight:55kg shoes: New Balance 477
By myself because Alex is working at the moment. I don't know the exact time coz I started my watch late. I would usually go to the time trial so I pushed quite hard. I could feel my lack of running in the past few weeks, My chest was burning and tight but my legs were fine. In the last km I did 50m sprints then 50m jogging.
Running (Technical and striding) 10:00 [3]
shoes: New Balance 477
Trying to get some good technique going again.

Tuesday Dec 4

Cycling 29:39 [4] 6.52 km (4:33 / km)
Rode to school to fetch my report and back. It's quite a hilly route but it was nice and quiet on the back roads. No one ever rides to school at Jeppe Girls so I felt a bit conspicuous. I got some strange looks but hey, at least my mom didn't have to come out of work to take me: )
walking (Fotheringham park) 30:00 [2] 3 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: New Balance 477
Went for a brisk walk with my dad. We got chased by a little sausage dog. It was quite scary because it didn't just run in a line behind us and retreat once my dad started trying to ward it off. It ran in circles round us for a long time. I'm not so fond of crazy dogs so practically climbed onto my dads shoulders. I couldn't stop giggling for the next 5 mins of the walk and jumped when other dogs barked at us.
Stopped to look at the great view from the top of Fotheringham park. You can see suikerbosrand and Moffat park in the distance.

Sunday Dec 2

Orienteering race (Xmas Event) 45:00 [5] 3.9 km (11:32 / km)
shoes: New Balance 477
I really enjoyed the course mainly because I didn't know where I was going half the time. It was a map memory course using Google earth images. The legs were all rather long which made it quite tricky. Luckily I had Paul to help me out because we were running about the same speed because he had Sarah on his back. I was kept busy chasing after the control discription which she dropped a few times. Alex even passed me a few times which was entertaining.
