Urban series final - Westcliff: Ridge and Hope School
I had a decent race. Struggled physically and had lots of hesitations but kept it moving and didn't have any mistakes.
The first 4 went well before the map exchange but I felt very slow on the road to the Hope School. Then things got exciting. It was really run trying to find routes (some good course planning) but the map wasn't all that clear in places and lines / circles were covering some vital info. Anyway, things were going well and then I hit #131 which was supposed to be by the tree, but was now at the gate which was closed but had been opened. I checked the tree for about 20 sec before clicking that the control near the gate was probably mine and headed back. Then at #13, Jess was punching. She started 2 mins behind me and I was really bummed to see her. I didn't think it was going badly and it was weird that I hadn't seen her on the way between #12 and #13. Anyway, saw the path to #14 and just about stuck with Jess. My lungs took hits up the hill and stairs and I was a bit demotivated that I'd been caught so lost lots of time in the last section which was stupid because it turns out that Jess missed out a few controls and I was only 17 sec behind Michele in the end.
Good lesson learned!
