Orienteering race 1:24:23 [5] *** 9.34 km (9:02 / km) +296m 7:48 / km
22c shoes: Inov8 Orocs

Gauteng Champs Long. Klipkraal South.
Had a decent run, not clean enough or fast enough though. Lost about 40 seconds to #2. Not sure how, I don't remember messing it up. Think I was just slow up the hill - didn't want to blow early. Solid until #12 and then I went through a bad patch. Hit it fine but there was only 1 cup at the water and 2 people already there. Really needed water so had to wait. Then tried to get my 32GI chew in on the way to #13. That messed me up nicely and lost about 1 minute getting stuck in some undergrowth and then leaving the road too early. Got my head back in the game from #14 to #19 but walked too much up the hill. Something a bit funny with the map around #20 (not all rootstocks mapped). Last few controls were okay - I was a bit nervous / cautious through them after yesterday's 2nd last control disaster.
So just over 2 minutes behind Christie. Bit frustrated but at least I gave Christie some competition and it was a pretty awesome weekend.

Orienteering race 43:23 [5] *** 5.62 km (7:43 / km) +158m 6:46 / km
15c shoes: Inov8 Orocs

Gauteng Middle Champs. Sabie.
Average run. 2 biggish mistakes. Lost 30 sec to #2. Dropped too low and didn't read the rocks properly. And had a terrible 2nd last control. Lost about a minute. Was dying and just couldn't think anymore. The rest were decent and I think my route choices were good. Felt a bit slow up the hills but otherwise was moving okay. Another 2nd place about 90 seconds behind Christie.

Orienteering 14:58 [5] *** 2.76 km (5:25 / km) +27m 5:10 / km
18c shoes: Inov8 X-talons 2

SA sprint champs at Sabie High School.
Not the most exciting area. Had an okay run. No mistakes just not smooth with a few hesitations and slow punching. Also didn't feel like I was running well. Was 2nd, a minute behind Christie. A bit disappointing, thought I was in better shape, but good to see Christie is running well ahead of JWOC.
