Orienteering (Forrest) race 37:47 [3] 4.74 km (7:58 / km) +125m 7:03 / km

Latvian orienteering. One of the worst runs ive had in ages: Nav was pretty shocking, nothing seemed to fit and just kept loosing contact throughout; running also felt sluggish, was very slow down the only longish section of path towards then end of the course. 12 minutes down on the lead- not sure thats being made up tommorow.

Running (Soft) 35:00 [3] 7.46 km (4:42 / km) +38m 4:35 / km

Down through the dunes to a semi-frozen Baltic sea. Nice heading out with the help of the wind but coming back was pretty grotty.

Note
(rest day)

Nice to have a rest day, "moching 'bout carlisle".

Distances are copied off sunley, as my watch is still packed.

JK overall was pretty decent. 1st day was pretty much perfect in terms of results. Days 2 and 3 were good and if i had been asked before, would have been very happy with them. Although, looking back at them now i can see clearly where to improve and where time can be saved. Relays was fun and a nice result for the boys.

Looking forward to a week in latvia now, hopefully just taking it easy. Looking forward to next selection in the lakes - a middle on colonel's drive should hopefully suit me better.

Orienteering (Forrest) 23:02 [3] 3.2 km (7:12 / km) +200m 5:29 / km

JK Relays. Charlie smashed 1st leg, followed by Sunley nailing 2nd. Started of joint second behind a Devon team that had MPd and with Felix. was clean to 1, catching the Devon guy just before the control. Took a mad safe option to #2, running twice the distance round the path. With Felix to #3 and then pushed hard out to the path and then ride to 4, dropping Felix by a surprising amount. Kept on pushing hard, taking safe options and getting controls cleanly. Saw Felix again going into #8 as I was on my way to #9. Clean the whole way up, getting pretty nervous when walking very slowly up the hill back into the arena. Got the rest of them in the field fine and then jogged in back through the absolute mud bath to the line. Bit annoyed i did as was only 1sec behind the winner of the gaffle (and was winning at the last control) but that was overshadowed by the teams win overall. Good stuff and hopefully will repeat it next year.

Orienteering (Forrest) race 49:33 [5] 9.84 km (5:02 / km) +212m 4:33 / km

JK Long. 6th. Got a bit too excited going to #1 and binned 30secs from trying to set off to fast. Settled down but was proper hesitant going to #2. Started flowing nicely and caught Ben D through #4. Kept going nicely, although without too much pace, through to #11. Tried to get the gel out (that i didn't need anyway) and just couldn't open my pocket far enough. decided to just stop and get it out at #12, losing ~20secs. went all right through to #17, technically nailing #13 and then getting the optimum route to #16. Absolute slog up the hill to 18 was grim and then just had no pace to push through to the end0.
