Run / Hike long (Summer Training 2017) 2:17:43 [3] 10.92 mi (12:37 / mi) +240ft 12:21 / mi
slept:8.0 weight:113.3lbs shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2017)

My training plan assignment for yesterday was "comfortable 10-mile run" -- but I was orienteering yesterday. I think Coach Erin (Watson) would have advised me to do fewer miles today (since I ran ~6 yesterday at the o-meet), but I had already missed my last long run two weeks ago (also due to an o-meet). So I went ahead and did it and it felt OK.

It was cloudy at times and not too hot, and I also still LOVE my new hydration vest.

Ran 10.1 (1:58:20), walked the rest. And then I had another delicious Biscuit Bar biscuit with apricot-jalapeno jam.

Orienteering race (Red) 1:27:25 [3] 5.95 mi (14:41 / mi) +594ft 13:25 / mi
shoes: Salomon Speedcross (2014)

I had some dumb bobbles, but I still managed to finish #5 out of 16 overall, and #1 out of 5 for women, on the Red course.

Run / Hike 39:03 [3] 2.01 mi (19:26 / mi) +220ft 17:36 / mi
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2017)

I met some friends for dinner at the new Chuy's Mexican restaurant in Westminster. I gorged on chips / salsa / guac and also had a sickly-sweet margarita. Ugh. So I went for a walk around the arboretum after I got home...

Target Shooting (50) 1:00:00 [0]

50 rounds of target shooting. In the final contest, I was 3rd out of 20 shooters and I won a bag. Wow?!

Administration 3:00:00 [0]

Prep work for Fox Run meet -- OE2010 entries & classes files; start cards; email follow-ups for late registrations; etc. Extra work required due to different registration system / file (Rocky Mountain State Games).

Run / Hike 37:45 [3] 3.11 mi (12:08 / mi) +131ft 11:40 / mi
slept:7.0 weight:112.6lbs shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2017)

Run group at Runners Roost. I mainly went because it was "bomber night". Ran ~2.5, walked the rest, and then had beer samples and a sliver of a Qdoba quesadilla with guacamole (I wanted more but they went fast!).

Run / Hike tempo (Summer Training 2017) 54:59 [3] 4.52 mi (12:10 / mi) +105ft 11:54 / mi
slept:8.0 weight:111.3lbs shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2017)

- Jogged 0.75-mile to warm up.

- Three-mile "prediction run". The assignment was to estimate your three-mile time and then try to nail it without a watch, Garmin, etc. The person who finished closest to their predicted time got a $25 gift certificate to Runners Roost. Nice!

I had to do the run on my own (since I had dinner plans), so I did wear a watch and just left it on my "other useless stuff" screen (altitude, calories burned, sunrise time, sunset time). Splits were 10:11 + 9:31 + 9:39 = 29:21 (+0:21 compared to my 29:00 prediction -- pretty close).

It was miserably hot, BTW (~92 degrees with no cloud cover). There was a headwind for a while, which I tried to think of as a "cooling breeze". ;-)

- Walked 0.75 to cool down.

Run / Hike 20:00 [3]
slept:7.0 weight:113.4lbs

Walked to & from rec center, with a loop around the arboretum.

Strength / Stretching 1:00:00 [3]

Yoga class at the rec center. I had to focus hard on ignoring the stench of the patchouli someone was wearing.
