Orienteering race (Red course) 1:26:01 [3] 4.48 mi (19:12 / mi) +379ft 17:47 / mi
slept:6.0 shoes: Salomon Speedcross (2017-Navy)

Red course at Kentucky Camp. I made a mistake on my way to #1 -- which I realized when I hit the dirt road and saw the fence off to my left. Otherwise, I think I did OK, but moving slowly (rolled my ankle a few times, which makes me even more tentative & slow on rocky ground...). Very fun. I was dead-last, but my AP graph shows consistency (no big time-wasting mistakes -- except for #1).

Orienteering 1:14:27 [3] 1.86 mi (40:02 / mi) +210ft 36:10 / mi
shoes: Salomon Speedcross (2017-Navy)

Contour training with Amy. We found all the flags, except for the two that had already been picked up. Very worthwhile -- good practice.

Runners Roost Group Run -- 36 bike path up to Davidson Mesa, and then back along McCaslin. It was still not totally dark when I finished my second mile, and weather was very mild (no wind, no jacket required). Nice!

Beer and valentine's day treats afterwards.

I was hoping to win one of the RR buffs in the raffle -- didn't happen.

Run / Hike long 1:13:15 [3] 7.04 mi (10:24 / mi) +71ft 10:18 / mi
slept:8.0 weight:111lbs shoes: TNF Ultra Winter

Rocky Mountain Road Runners race #2 along the Platte River trail in Littleton.

It was 20°F at the start, and the entire length of the course was snow-packed. They miscalculated my handicapped start time by a large margin (8:30 pace rather than 10:00), so I felt like I was running alone most of the course. But it was sunny and warm enough once I got going -- fun overall.

I approached this as a "supported training run" rather than as a race, so I was not pushing my pace at all.

Run / Hike 26:53 [3] 2.61 mi (10:18 / mi) +24ft 10:13 / mi
shoes: TNF Ultra Winter

My training plan assignment for today was 9.5 miles, so I had a bit more to do after finishing the race (and after hanging around in the restaurant for the raffle -- didn't win anything). It was hard to get out of my warm car to get in these last few miles, especially since the mild headwind was still blowing...but it wasn't so bad once I got moving.

Note

Post-run meal for carbs & protein. (Pay no attention to that other thing on the right...which may or may not be banana-pecan pancakes with caramel sauce.)

At Toast in Littleton.
