Orienteering race 1:24:16 [3] 5.44 mi (15:29 / mi) +783ft 13:38 / mi
slept:6.0 shoes: Salomon Speedcross (2017-Turq)

Red course at Fox Run.

I navigated mostly OK (except for leaving #6 -- WTH?, and some other small errors, notably leaving the road too early to get to #20 -- which cost me 3rd place for F20+, according to the splits), with a preference for using trails as much as possible. But, I felt like I was moving SOOOO slowly. I will blame a combination of the heat, lingering leg-fatigue from Thursday's track workout, and still adjusting to altitude after being at sea level for two weeks. :-P

On my way home, I got a text from Dmitriy & Yelena inviting me to dinner. So I showered at the Castle Rock rec center (since I was in that area and had a change of clothes with me) and then met them for happy hour sushi in Aurora. Fun!

Comment: In retrospect, taking the trail to #1 was probably too conservative; I should have gone ~straight-line to the saddle east of the control.

Walked 0.78, easy run 0.84, walked the rest.

Prep work for tomorrow's Fox Run meet (OE2010 files, start cards, final email update, etc.). This was extra-super-tedious & annoying b/c we used the Rocky Mountain State Games registration system instead of RMOC's usual system. Lots of manual copy/paste of everything (SI numbers, course/class codes, vehicle info, etc.) -- ugh.

Run / Hike intervals (Summer Training 2018) 55:41 [3] 4.28 mi (13:01 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:114.3lbs

Extra-hot 98°F lunchtime workout (since I have dinner plans), at the LMS track. There was a summer day-camp going on at the adjacent playground and I soooooooo wanted to take a few runs at their slip-n-slide...!

- Ran one mile to warm up.

- 2 x 4 ins & outs with ~4 minutes of walking rest in between the two sets.

- Walked & ran one mile to cool down.

Strength / Stretching 1:00:00 [3]
slept:3.0 weight:113.7lbs

I met up with one of my friends at "yoga in the park" this evening.

I felt nauseous within the first few minutes. I think it was due to the combination of horrible sleep last night, too much caffeine and not enough real food today, the low sun in my eyes (always a headache trigger), the high heat (90s), and bug-spray fumes. Ugh.

Run / Hike tempo 57:55 [3] 5.22 mi (11:06 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:114.3lbs shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2018)

Back to LoCO FIT training!

At Davidson Mesa --

* Ran about 0.5 to warm up.

* Four-mile progression run, "starting at half-marathon pace" -- 9:54, 9:25, 9:04, 8:31. (I was supposed to do five miles, but I'm going to blame this shortcut on being sleep deprived and being at sea level for the past two+ weeks...) It was hard to maintain my intended pace b/c my Garmin was giving erratic readings (I know I shouldn't rely on it so much...but I do).

* Walked back to the trailhead with the others to cool down.

Worked late to try to get caught up -- so this turned out to be another rest day.

Note

I was still asleep when all of this morning's potential running activities were happening...and then it rained a lot, so I just stayed inside.
