"Arctic" Prairie Dog Half Marathon.

I was kinda dreading this -- my only long run recently was five weeks ago, and just 10 miles; also, I knew from yesterday morning's run that the course conditions were probably going to suck (and indeed they did suck -- icy and snowpacked / lumpy / slippery for all ~nine miles that were on trails; mostly non-icy on the remaining miles that were on streets & sidewalks).

Despite all that, this was my second-fastest half marathon ever. Huh. Maybe a five-week taper works for me. ;-)

My irritation at people who play their music out loud on trails and during races has boiled over lately. I asked some stupid 20-something to turn it down today; she got huffy and wanted to explain that she doesn't use earbuds. Yeah, it's OBVIOUS that you don't use earbuds, idiot, since I can hear your shitty music from 20 feet away. (I didn't say that, but I thought it...) What kind of self-centered obliviot thinks it's OK to impose their dumb music on everyone else? It's so prevalent around here and so annoying.

Anyhow -- the weather was nice (sunny and high 40s, no wind), and I had a delicious breakfast afterwards at the restaurant adjacent to the start / finish (yogurt / fruit / granola, one blueberry pancake, and a small mimosa). :-)

LoCOfit breakfast run and "Virtual 5K" fundraiser for my high school.

The entire route was either ice or deep, lumpy snowpack -- which forced me to go slow.

slept:7.0 weight:116.7lbs

I feel asleep easily last night (from exhaustion), but I woke up around 4:30 am -- my feet and legs were painfully sore, and I couldn't find a comfortable position. Eventually fell back asleep.

I never made it to the rec center or out for a walk today...oh well.
