Five Days of Italy Day 5 -- Middle-distance in Padola.

This was a beautiful, sunny day, and I felt like I had my best forest run of the week. Running through the town for the last few controls was fun, and we got to enjoy our lunch, beer / wine, and gelato in a great arena in the town plaza afterwards.

I finished as #20 of 28 in W45 -- a slight improvement over the previous three days, but still lower than I would like.

A great way to end the event in Italy. :-)

Five Days of Italy Day 4 -- Middle-distance in Padola.

I totally blew it on #1. Ugh. Otherwise, my nav was OK and this map was a bit more runnable for me. Still way slower than most others, though -- #24 of 27 in W45.

It rained / poured throughout my course. But, again, it wasn't cold, so being totally saturated from head to toe was tolerabe.

Five Days of Italy Day 3 -- Misurina.

Oy vey -- even steeper and rockier than yesterday. Similar outcome: OK navigation but glacially slow movement on my part. #20 out of 28 in W45.

Afterwards, we spent some time walking around Cortiina (and haviing aperol spritzes).

Five Days of Italy -- Day 2.

Middle-distance course at Misurina, with amazing views of Tre Cime / Drei Zinnen.

I didn't have any nav disasters (except for a brief 180 error when leaving #7), but I had a few questionable route choices (e.g. to #10) and I was moving VERY slowly since it was steep and rocky, two things that make me overly tentative and slow since I'm paranoid about rolling / spraining an ankle. It started to rain during the last third of my course, but it wasn't cold and was therefore tolerable.

I ended up #23 of #28 -- ugh.

It would have been nice to hang out in the arena and food / beer tent afterwards...but the rain turned to a torrential downpour with hail shortly after I finished.

Five Days of Italy -- Day 1.

Packet pickup and wandering / snacking in Auronzo.

And then the first event -- Sprint. There were lots of opportunities for flat-out running and hill-climbing. Great fun, and I was very happy to have a top-half finish (#13 of 28 in W45).
