Note
slept:0.0

I procrastinated a tiny bit on a work project (and it ended up taking way longer than I expected), so I got up on Sunday morning, started working on it, and...stayed awake until I finished at about 9am on Monday morning. Then I had so many meetings and other tasks* that I didn't get to bed until about 11 pm on Monday night. Needless to say...no exercise of any kind today. :-\

*In addition to "real" work, I spent about four hours finding and deleting or transferring all kinds of personal files on my work laptop that I had moved over from two previous laptops but never got around to organizing (about five years worth of stuff -- photos, RMOC junk, etc.) I probably triggered an IT security alert somewhere while I was uploading GBs of data to my cloud storage area...but I felt like I better get it done b/c I don't have a good feeling about my job these days (unexpected new manager as of a few weeks ago; a re-org in progress that I won't learn the details of until a meeting in Dallas next week; lots of vague management references to how all of our work is going to change; etc.)

Run / Hike 27:05 [3] 1.61 mi (16:49 / mi) +94ft 15:56 / mi

The rec center doesn't have many classes on Sundays -- and the only three offered in the afternoon don't appeal to me (Zumba, Family Fitness, and Water Aerobics...).

So I was excited hear that my favorite rec center yoga teacher (Becky) would be teaching at the Yoga Junction studio on Sundays at 4pm. I was planning on that for this afternoon -- until I saw that the drop-in price is $17. Holy cow. Even with a 10-punch pass, it's still $13.50 per visit. Ay caramba. I guess that's typical, but I'm spoiled by the rec center drop-in rate ($5.75 per day, for whatever classes & activities I want to do while I'm there).

So I went for a night-time walk instead.

Run / Hike long 1:01:38 [3] 5.35 mi (11:31 / mi) +214ft 11:06 / mi
slept:7.0 shoes: Hoka Challenger (2019)

My training plan assignment for today was nine miles, so I met up with some LoCO FIT friends for extra distance before the Oatmeal Fest 5km. We went at a very casual pace, since a few of them were going for up to 18 miles total. There wasn't any wind, but it was bitterly cold (~15°F).

Run / Hike race 32:04 [3] 3.15 mi (10:11 / mi) +146ft 9:45 / mi
shoes: Hoka Challenger (2019)

Lafayette Oatmeal Festival 5K

Still pretty sore in legs and abs from plyo two nights ago, and kinda tired from this morning's "warmup", so I was not at all racing this race. I stayed with a few of my friends for a while (11-ish pace), until I had to slow down even more to futz with my gloves.

I caught & passed my friends on the return trip (mostly downhill) and was cruising at a decent clip (for me) until about 100 feet from the finish when I tripped on my own feet, landed HARD on my left knee and hand, and rolled. I'm not sure which is worse -- skinning & bruising my knee / hand, looking like a klutz in front of everyone at the finish, or tearing a hole in my relatively new winter-weight running tights. :-P

Delicious Quaker-sponsored breakfast afterwards -- the main appeal of this race. Oatmeal with a buffet of zIllions of toppings, oatmeal pancakes, oatmeal muffins, a free full-size package of oats to take home, etc.

Soupbone might recognize the woman in the front of this photo -- she won the Eldorado race we did last summer. And also won today. :-)

Run / Hike warm up/down 15:00 [3] 1.0 mi (15:00 / mi) +51ft 14:19 / mi

Very slow cool-down / hobble to get to my nine-mile goal.

Strength / Stretching 1:00:00 [3]
slept:3.0 weight:122.6lbs

$5 "happy hour" class at Yoga Junction. Apparently there's a different instructor / style every week. Today it was "intuitive movement" -- no flow or specific guidance, just "maybe you want to do this, maybe you want to do that", etc. It was OK, but not a class I would seek out again.

Also, there was a guy whose BO stunk up the whole room as soon as he walked in.

Strength / Stretching 1:00:00 [3]
slept:8.0 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2019)

Strength Training for Runners class. Lots of squat jumps...legs will be hurting soon.

Run / Hike 21:41 [3] 2.2 mi (9:51 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2019)

22 laps on the indoor track.

Runners Roost Group Run -- first one of 2020.

My training plan said "4-5 miles". But...the dinner crew was only doing three miles (and they're all faster than me), and my head was still hurting from two hours of dental work earlier today (had FIVE fillings replaced). So I just did four miles -- mainly so I wouldn't be late to dinner.

From the store, up McCaslin, two loops around Harper Lake, and then back down McCaslin.

A bit of wind (of course) but not cold.

Run / Hike intervals 59:21 [3] 5.19 mi (11:26 / mi) +129ft 11:10 / mi
slept:7.0 weight:121.9lbs shoes: Hoka Challenger (2019)

Early morning meetup with a few others from the LoCO FIT group. It wasn't too cold, but the wind was awful (we've had several days of terrible wind...).

- Ran one mile around the park to warm up.

- 10 x (2 minutes at 5k pace + 2 minutes walk/jog recovery). We started on the Dutch Creek Trail, headed out to Daughenbaugh, did one loop around Warembourg Pond, and then went back the same way.

- Ran one lap around the park to cool down.
