Note

I skipped Carryout Caravan today -- partly so I could quarantine myself after last week's out-of-town trip, and also so I could study for this weekend's midterm.

slept:8.0 weight:124.8lbs shoes: Saucony Peregrine (2018)

Neighborhood walk. Very sunny -- and 32°F felt pleasant compared to yesterday's cold & grey day.

Two-hour Score-O at Box Canyon.

Aaaannnddd...apparently I used up all of my nav precision yesterday.

My eyes were heavily watering non-stop for the entire two hours (due to the cold wind), which was unpleasant and distracting. When that happens, I can't see very well, I have to stop repeatedly to clean off my glasses, and my face gets painfully chafed from constant wiping.

I think that distraction was a legit factor in some of my mistakes...which were many, including overshooting #20; taking a really dumb route to #29; and wandering off the west edge of the map on my way to #33. Ay caramba.

In retrospect, I wish I had stayed on the north side of the road the whole time, since that area is less steep with more controls. I'm pretty awful at Score-O / ROGAINE route planning...

This was a great weekend (despite the heavy homework stress) -- can't wait to go back again.

Red course at Ironwood.

Possibly one of my most precise courses *ever*. It's very difficult to relocate on this map and I've gotten hopelessly lost here in the past -- so I was hyper-focused on my compass. I also took conservative trail routes to #2 and #5 (maybe not the best route choice...but I didn't get hopelessly lost).

Also -- no terrible cholla encounters were had.
